S2 Exige Baulky shift 4th to 3rd

Post by gdr » Wed May 23, 2007 7:45 am

The gearshift on my Exige can be obstructive when going from 4th to 3rd in a hurry. With a perfectly executed H&T blip the shift can be very slick, but seems like if the revs are not almost perfectly matched, 3rd gear will not engage and I've been left floundering in neutral a couple of times which is never ideal. At lower engine revs you can downshift 4th to 3rd just using the syncomesh and no throttle blip, although shift down to 3rd never feels as precise as the rest of the shifts. Like the syncromesh is not playing ball, although it does work OK at lower RPM. Could it be lingage adjustment? :?: Car has just over 3000 miles on it now.

Mashed synchros. Check the gearbox oil level (good luck with that one!) level/fill plug is buried behind the subframe....
