Parts Help

Can someone tell me the dimensions of the allen bolt that holds in the automatic cambelt tensioner?

I've had to put the standard head back on for reason I won't go into until I'm drunk - the PTP unit had the manual tensioner and in the previous 4 years the original bolt has gone astray and the new tensioner doesn't come with one.

Cheers

Mac, are you trying to fit a manual tensioner or an automatic tensioner?

The manual tensioner is M10, the auto is M8. The M10 is a socket head screw, the M8 is a normal hex-head bolt I think. I have some M10 socket head screws that will work; I don't have the right M8 to hand, but there are a couple of built engines about that we could rob them from.

Length wise, both bolts will be the depth of the tensioner plus say 20mm? You can always cut them down if they bottom out - better too short than too long.

Cheers,
Robin

Robin,

Trying to fit the auto tensioner. I've got it on at the moment whilst trying to line up the belt using a standard hex headed bolt but it's a bit on the short side so will source a longer M8 tomorrow.

Thanks for the offer & advice.

Cheers

Hmm. Best not run it that way, then ... you'll run out of heads ...

Just re-read my comment on length - I obviously meant better too long than too short - you wouldn't want to run on a short bolt just there - at least a long bolt won't fully unwind as the cambelt cover is in the way ;-)

Cheers,
Robin
