S1 floorpan warranty fix

Post by campbell » Thu May 31, 2007 8:09 pm

Couldn't find a thread covering this...

Just had my nearly 8-year old S1 worked over by MMC, tidy job done on time and as promised. Full floor "replacement" job.

Service Mgr Bill hung back to enable me to collect a little later than planned tonight.

So full marks all round.

Nice finish on the new ally sheets, just need to clean the rest of the inside now!

For info, the new mats supplied are pretty scant, so if you have decent carpet mats already, then just have 'em throw 'em in the boot to use another day or as additional insulation ;-) The fixings that get bonded to the new floor would stand quite proud so you'd only want them fitted in place if using those mats, IYSWIM.

There is more detailed info on all this somewhere, in fact I think Tut has it (of all people!)

Basically if your Elise is less than 8 years old you can get variant 1 or variant 2 done at an official dealer for free. If older than that, you can of course get it done but have to fund some or all of the work IIRC.

There is also some remedial work you can do yourself, by removing the original bonded rubber overmats, cleaning things up underneath, and using non-bonded carpet mats in future.

UNDERLAY?! But you are just adding weight ;-)

I've got decent carpets already so am donating my underlay to the bruv in law who has no mats at all :-)
