I should have made myself clearer, its Starks mistake. No big deal, they had 4 boxes of Driveshafts. 2 for me and 2 for antoher customer. He managed to mix them up so we have one uprated and one standard. :damnfunny

Opened up the boxes last night (12.00) muttering WTF :scratch A courier will swap them around on Monday

Have to say they look great, much chunkier (sorry, best word I could think of) and heat treated etc ..

Completely different than the Link-up ones Alan, but certainly look the works.

Great job Alan - always impressed by the skill and patience shown on here.

How's the welding on the shorter left hand mount - looks a bit light compared the mount used on the g'box - do you think you'll have to keep an eye on it ?

Looking forward to hearing it.....

Its welded all the way round and braced underneath, shouldn't be a problem.

All the mounts are over engineered in my opinion, If you did actual stress analysis you could probably remove half of the material.

Engines in with no problems at all.

Manifold Fits perfectly with no madifications to Bulkhead and throttle body points away from the expansion tank. Perfect for the Air Filter housing etc...

Only took 6hrs, thanks for the help from Mike (Honda's are Ace) Stout. Mike doesn't post on technical but did say Honda Conversions are the way forward, a huge improvement to the boat anchor rover p*sh. Cheers Mate :cheers

Have exams this week so won't be able to do much to the car, so consider this a week break.

Another day of working on the Conversion.

Due to the Extra Power I felt it was best to upgrade the fuel Pump. Liked the Idea of an OEM like fitting of the Walbro so went with that. OEM my arse, it fits inside the original Fuel Pump Assembly (Just) but you have to modify pretty much everything. It should do the Job but not impressed.

All thats left is to build up the driveshafts, wiring and tie up a few loose ends. Struggling to juggle Work, College and Conversion but I will get there.

Thanks to Mike for the help and sorting out the wheel bearings, makes my life a bit easier. :cheers

Yeah, they're a bitch to fit and have their own limitations. Much easier and not much more expensive to fit a second pump and swirl pot then it's fully future-proofed should you want to go supercharged.

Are you going to post all the costings on this for all the people interested in the conversion Alan?

And who's doing the mapping?

Cheers

Both Craig and I bought our uprated pumps from Gaz, straight replacement as it is the whole assembly, and they have obviously done their job.

Wish I had fitted the 2nd pump & swirl pot Dan, you live and learn. It will always be a N/A install but he may go for a 2.2 bottom end at some point (Same Crank but with Cosworth Pistons and Darton Liners).

Jim's making an over the top manifold and silencer (421) which won't be cheap so would prefer to only pay for one. I've uprated all the valve train so he could easily bolt a set of hotter cams and 2.2 bottom end for £2000. I had a bit of an issue with the exhaust, I had to decide to go for 1 3/4" or 1 7/8". Decided on 1 7/8" to make it future proof, so fingers crossed it won't loose too much torque.

Mapping
I will probably sort out the Fueling as it takes a fair amount of time and any idiot can do it and then leave a pro with a dyno to write the map. Haven't a clue who that will be yet. Maybe see if Corbie fancies a homer :thumbsup

Cost

Edited for Wife Friendly reading

Around the £ mark. He could have done it for a lot less but with the upgrades to the Exhaust/Engine & Driveshafts its pushed the cost up.

Cheers
Alan

P.S I know he could have bolted on a Charger but I would consider it irresponsible to give Colin Murray 300 BHP. :blackeye
