1. does anyone know a really good cleaner for the tub ? I have been embarrased by previous comments.

2. Zero Bump steer kits, I was planning on making my own steering arms and I can't see how these work other than a different mounting method for the rack. can someone explain ?

Please....
What you got? I have Isopropyl, usually fairly good.

Best thing I have is Deb's Altrans but thats highly acidic (great for alloy's) I didn't want to use that incase I damaged the coating of the tub

Front Clam came off today but nothing else was done, what I did find was that at some point someone has changed the M6 bolt on the passenger side for a M8 and i cannot get the darn thing out!

Is there any wee jobs that do not require money being spent that I could do while the clam is off ?

ooh some more pic of my suspension just because I took them

Been thinking about this again as the other side is just about to be sent off for coating. So it's time to extract one's finger and get some work done.

Image

In this pic there is a bolt left (right hand side just in the picture(can't be bothered sticking an arrow on it)) that bolt is the wrong size and as a result has broken off inside what I am guessing is a captive nut or rivenut in the chassis if I chop the head off, how do I get it out ?

my other thinking is regards the nylatron bushes, the original rubber items use washers for castor adjustment as clamping the sleeve will do next to nothing with nylatron as the bush slides on the sleeve how do I set it ? lotus have a rubber/steel item fitted at the front what if I where to change them for nylatron ? I could make various thickness with a clearance hole through so that it would not foul on the sleeve. would this work ? or is it likely to jam on hard cornering ?

EDIT: or a thrust bearing ?
EDIT (Again) : S2 shockers ? do you just get a new set of brackets ? what can you bolt on and what can't you ?

Have looked into needle thrust bearings and I can get them down to 3mm thick that would fit but my dread is due to it's position it will just fill up with road crud so I am going with nylatron washers.

I have also purchased some wee bit's ;) ;) to be revealed at a later date ;)

Exactly, fairly simple (albiet in the Lotus position) job -and if the bolts come off easy- well worth it imho.

parts = cheap as chips, always a key selling point for me! ;)
no raiser brackets = bumpsteer - I drove my car without them, Steve Butts kit 110 setting, a bit much bumpsteer for me.... having said that I could see how some could get used to it. I'd rather not, so...
with raiser brackets = no bumpsteer at all :thumbsup

Thank you for your support and concern

Things are progressing fine slow, and steady wins the race ;)

I have been aquiring lot's of new shiny bit's in preperation for a couple of days of frantic assembly. I am working on a new design of steering arm, unfortunatly I have already purchased track rod ends but now I am looking into replacing them with spherical track rod ends that way I can adjust the angle of the steering arm. these arms would be made from aluminium and being a pikey I am trying to "aquire" some decent stuff, we only have cheap crap at work for use in mould tools.

I am also in the process of making nylatron packing washers but when I say "I" I really mean get someone else.

Also on the cards is an extended and finned rear difuser and a possible modification to the plate at the fronts that holds the front clam on to clean air underneath the car.

So as soon as it get's slightly warmer and is light enough at nights that I can see what the hell I am doing things will start to move forward again in ways that can be seen.

ready in the spring ;)
not going to say what spring

Sounds good. That titanium any good to you then for the steering arms instead of aluminium? Don't think I can aquire that much aluminium.

unfortunatly the steering arms are 7" long and that unfortunatly means you can't get 2 out of a 12" bar :(
