No need to test as we've supplied Hurricane's to a large number of DBW cars already.
I agree on your 'some cause problems, some don't' this is even confirmed by Lotus themselves, who don't know what causes the problems.
In fact, some cause problems using the original airbox!!!

What a surprise 8)

Did the dealer tell you exactly which error message was on the MIL testing gadget?

And did the system you had on your car had the red nose cone?

I've no idea why this causes problems with some cars but not others. I've had a hurricane fitted for many months now on my '06 spec DBW 111R and not had a single problem, not even a flicker of a warning light. Ah bo****ks, having said that bet it won't start in the morning now.

I love the hurricane. I can get noise when I want it and quieter cruising when I want that (I spend a lot of time on motorways). My first Elise had a ??? exhaust which sounded great but would make your ears bleed on a long run.

When I bought mine from Geary he said if I had problems I was to send it back with all packaging and he would refund it. Not needed to and still loving it. But I might just be lucky :?

I've heard horror stories of some DBW cars. It seems like the tolerances in these cars have been set too tight at different levels.

I know there's a dealer who's got a car which will not run properly, whatever they do. They replaced all sensors etc, but the problem keeps coming back.
The car is bog standard, but has the same problem with the airflow sensor.

From what I know, Lotus has now suggested to replace the complete engine
