Well, its official. I dont fit in a caterham. Well, not comfortably enough to drive it for any length of time.

My left foot catches the chassis rail above the clutch pedal.

My right ankle stops dead against the side of the tub before i get enough throttle on to heel and toe.

Although i can operate the brake with either left or right foot, i have so little room to move, its not confidence inspiring, and i have no hope in hell of being able to switch feet whilst braking.

I could adapt my driving style to suit, but its not a natural/comfortable way for me to sit or drive. Looks like i need a fat boy SV caterham, or an elise and a motorbike

Thanks for your help again Mac.

Sorry to hear it dude.

Was thinking how you'd get on squeezing yourself in to one for ff7!

The hunt continues then?

i could cope with the lack of space and weather protection, its just that its uncomfortable enough after 20 minutes, never mind 20 hours

would have been funny to watch though - you squeezing in, getting out on track, getting cramp, and not being able to get back out of the car

The FF7 crew wouldn't take the piss mate honest

Is it a foot issue or a tall issue

Also i don't think that macs car has a lowered floor but i don't know if that gives you more room in the pedal box

When i sat on the floor, with no seat whatsoever, there was space behind me to the rear ali bulkhead, so its not a tall issue.

Its more that there isnt enough space for me to be comfortable with the size of the pedal box, and if i moved the pedals to give me more room, then my legs would be kinked, and get in the way of the steering wheel.

I was wondering about the flat floor bit too.

I think the problem lies with Neil's height and that most of it is leg height rather than body height.

Even with all the seating out to get a proper feel on the pedal he either needs to be right the way back and straight legged meaning that heel-toe work is catching on the ali panels to sit a touch closer with a bend in the leg which then interferes with the steering.

I'm only 3inches shorter but it was night and day - especially with his toes so close to the fulcrum points.
