So, got the 8" fitted this week - at last. Absolutely brilliant. :D Still need to hear a 7", but the 8" is certainly as much noise as i was aiming for. Like the popping when i lift off the power. For anyone else that is thinking of doing this i'd certainly recommend it. Think Jim is a bit snowed under at the moment so be prepared for a bit of a wait if you do go for one.

The thing that pushed me along the 8" route was when Tut got black flagged at Donny for noise. Could you imagine travelling a few hundred miles for a track day then getting told "tough luck mate but off your too loud".

The noise limits are only going to get tighter. I went for the biggest diameter and longest lenght I could get. And according to Jim, it was sized properly to suit the engine so no loss of power either.

I'm in the middle of discussions with Jim but reckon that I'm going to go with th 8"x24" as a christmas prezzie to myself from myself. Just waiting to see if it's worth fitting the 2Bular manifold and sports cat at the same time. Hopefully Jim will be able to squeeze another one out (if you'll pardon the expression) this side of christmas. Here's hoping!

Just got to tell the wife now.

If you are going to track down South, there is no point in taking chances with the exhaust, especially with drive by meters. And it is only going to get worse.

I had to go around Donnie in 5th and 6th, which was still fast in my car, but 3rd and 4th would have been better.

You'll be lucky! :damnfunny :damnfunny I waited about 5 weeks for mine! Worth the wait i must say and i didn't push him for about 2 weeks, i'm sure if i had, i'd have got it a bit quicker.

Don't tell the wife, if she's anything like my other half then she'll never even notice!!!

They can be a bit variable. My Exige with Stage 1 measured 94dB at Snetterton... :?
I didn't get a reading at Oulton (doppelganger was measured instead). :D

PS I remember Steve Brands legendary 120 dB at Oulton, it did make your ears bleed and you could hear it in convoy from 4 cars back. Repacked with some loft insulation from B&Q did the job.

I also once measured Uldis' Exige at my house. He had some (experi)mental zorst on it which made the neighbours windows rattle. It wasn't actually to bad when running some revs (still fecking loud) but idling it was actually painfull, you could feel the low frequencies hitting you in the chest - was 112 dB at idle!

He stopped posting a year or more ago, I think something got personal. He also had a bad shoulder injury, so has been doing nothing with his car.

We saw him at Krishnans when we popped in for the opening a few weeks ago.
