Re: Tyre Fitter - Central Belt...?
I know you have a few options now Ross, but another that I think would fit for you are Fair Deal Tyres in Grangemouth. Small place and dodgy sounding name I agree, but did a good job with new tyres on the wifes car recently. Watched them looking up pressure and torque settings before fitting - rims unmarked as you would expect etc.
I ordered tyres from Black Circles so think they really just get the fitting charge, hence why I think they would fit own supplied tyres. Details are below if you want to give them a call first if your other options don't work out. Literally 2 mins off jct 5 (?) of M9.

The tyres were ordered on Friday, were due Monday, but being the last week before Christmas, deliveries are taking longer.tyres are arriving today.Sanjoy wrote:Camskill order from Friday still not arrived
Sorry if you were not informed earlier
Please see note below ref December ordering thats on the front of our web.
Kindest reagrds

* LAST DAYS FOR ORDERING**
Where we have the Parts/Tyres on the shelf we recommend ordering no later than Friday the 19th December.
Where we have to order the parts/tyres in you will need to order by the Wednesday 17th of December.
If you order Monday 22nd or Tuesday 23rd you may still get your goods before Christmas (where we have stock). We send everything out on a next day service, but this is not guaranteed, as we are in the hands of the couriers/Postpeeps, and Christmas being a busy time of year deliveries do take longer.
Merry Christmas from the Camskill team

Re: Tyre Fitter - Central Belt...?
Arrived today...
Look to be pretty good tyres - And more importantly, available in Elise sizes...Would certainly consider if using an S1 during the winter...

Re: Tyre Fitter - Central Belt...?
Hm, interesting idea. I have a set of "track day rims" languishing in the garage with cracked MaxSports on them...although my regular rims are shod with T1-S / T1-R, which are not doing a bad job!
Out of interest, other than Advan Neovas, is there any other more "summer oriented" or trackday tyre (apart from Toyo 888R) that people would suggest for an S1? Not really looking for a cut slick, more something hard wearing in warmer weather but which deals OK with showers of rain...then I could sweat the asset investment of my spare rims a bit better!

Ross how you finding the Snowprox? Considered getting them for my 306 but ended up with a set of T1-R's (same size as yours) as i was not sure if they where really necessary for our climate. How do you find the grip levels in the dry and and wear rate, er once they start to wear?

Re: Tyre Fitter - Central Belt...?
Just got them fitted on Friday, but have already done about 350 miles...Headed up to Aberdeen, in the sleet and heavy rain on Friday, and found them to be really good in standing water etc...The Panda comes with Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD's as standard, and I had noticed that if you were hamfisted with the throttle at low speeds, in cold / wet conditions, it would easily spin up an unloaded wheel...This trait seems less prevalent now...scib4 wrote:Ross how you finding the Snowprox? The standard tyres are 195/45/15's, and the Snow Proxy's are 195/50/15's...Because they're high(er) profile, they seem to have improved the ride - The 100HP crashes like an Elise over pot holes, but it's much better now...
As for ultimate handling...I drove 'enthusiastically' down the back road (A957) from Aberdeen to Stonehaven - It's either soft sidewalls, or tread block shift, but the car isn't as sure footed as before...I'm running them at 30PSI, so might bump that up a bit...No great shakes, and it was easy enough to adapt to the change...
I'll keep an eye on wear rate, but they'll be coming off in March, so hopefully get a few years out of them...Are they necessary? Hmmm - If the Panda had a good treaded summer tyre as standard, I probably wouldn't have bothered...But the Eagle F1's have no radial tread, and are pretty poor in the snow and ice...It's my only car at the moment, and I depend on it to get me to Aberdeen for work etc...With that in mind, a £160 investment isn't too bad, given I've spent much more on track day tyres which have lasted a couple of thousand miles...
Re: Tyre Fitter - Central Belt...?
Any updates Ross, thinking about a set for the VRS??
