Back in from another few Datalogs and £30 lighter .... I'm following a simular system to what your suggesting, well almost.

You have a Low cam map and High cam map. You can adjust fueling, ignition and 0 - 50 cam advance for both.

I do a run for the low cam ( up to 7000 rpm ) and make adjustments then do a run for the high cam ( 2000 - 8700 rpm ) then make further adjustments. Its looking pretty obvious where the cam change should be by the way the speed is falling off on the graph. I then put the lot together and make further adjustments.

I have made a few adjustments to my cam and ignition maps to create a smooth power band, some I had to add fuel to get rid of some knocking.

Pretty much achieved what I set out to do, as I now have a safe map with good power delivery (he hopes). Going to spend a bit of time on the partial throttle and see how it goes over the next couple of days.

I'll post up the Dyno Runs, heres for above 120BHP :cheers

:thumbsup

It is a fair hike in the cam angles though but it looses power otherwise and no knocks.

Thanks for the recommendation Scotty :)

Sorry for not responding to your email sooner but been flat out last week and just back from a long weekend in Manchester.

I will have a proper look at the data logs and the map you sent me tonight when I get home.

One thing I will say is when you get it onto the dyno check what its lambda sensor is saying comparing it to the build in one. As I have seen the OEM wideband be out by a consistent amount. worst I seen was 1.5:1 AFR leaner at WOT.

13.0:1 should be ok, some cars like it a bit richer and make more power on 12.5:1 or 12.8:1

my first thoughts regarding the map the first thing is that the way the cam tails off on at the top end looks too aggressive I find you only need to pull the cam angle back 5 - 10 deg at 8000+ to make the most power.

I would start data logging the 30, 40 and 50 cam angles as with your engine and setup, this will probably get you the most power on the high cam with your setup but best to get it on the dyno and do the back to back runs for 10,20,30,40,50 for low and high cams. you usually end up with a fairly obvious winner and a fairly obvious VTEC crossover the current one seems a bit high at 5100.

Also on your VTEC crossover the cam angle jumps from 30 to 50, you should really build up that transition more smoothly so its not as big a jump.

It looks like the hurricane isn't flowing enough at the top end as your MAP is dropping off at the top end. its the same problem I have with mine I just can't get enough air into the engine at the top end.

What dyno you going to be using?

Corbie

Hi Corbie, Good to speak to someone who knows Honda's/Hondata's. Sorry we didn't get a chance to speak at KH but I was dropping Tut off ..... to where he broke down :scratch

Forget the one i sent you, that was the map without any changes and its very lean. I have changed the fueling maps as per the logs above, i'll send them on tonight. I believe i'm loosing more power from the lower cam than the higher one. I get a massive kick when vtec is engaged, i'll try advancing the cam for the lower range and see if i can get a bit more cam advance higher up the revs.

It will be a Dyno Tech. I'm only getting a few runs as well.

Thanks for the help :thumbsup

Just back from the Dyno Run and very pleased with the results. I will need to scan the charts and upload them when I return to work as I don't have a scanner. Dyno was a Dastek at Wallace Performance, which gives very consverative (or Real) results.

Again, mapped by me (Man in Shed) using a datalogger then dyno'd to show Power.

220 BHP with 156 LBFT of Torque Chuffed :D

Fueling was near perfect with no knocks etc ...

Slight loss of torque at 3000 - 5000 RPM probably due to manifold but do need to add more cam angle lower down. Very flat above 5000rpm :thumbsup

Thanks for the help Corbie/Steve. An enjoyable learning experience for me with good results

Great results Alan, you must be well chuffed :)

I might pick your brain at tt now though, as the stark / hondata conversion looks great ;)
