Right, progress!
I have 8 ball joints but 2 of them are a differet design. The splines on most go all the way up, the other 2 have splines half way up like the oem. But they are all the same part no.
Just discoverd the the OEM ones are fuc-king imperial too, so they can't go back on cos the nuts are bollocksed.
I am going to try these 2 now, plese cross you fingers for me!

Car maintenance weekend - HELP! Please! - fixed for now

The ones on the left fit, the ones on the right dont!
The splines only cover hlf the body of the joint on the correct ones, the splines cover the whole side of the others. They are frosty as they were in the freezer to make them esier to fit (Top tip that!)
Went together easily with the right joints. No pics of the job as I had other things to worry about! Straight forward really, all the bolts came out, there was a little hammer work and stay out of the way of the ball joint splitter, when those tapers go they don't half bang!
All I need now is another 6 joints that fit....
