Standard traffic procedure.. Heater on 3, window open as its roasting in the car and driving in 1st gear at high revs to keep the water pump spinning fast. Dont tell me I am the only one..

Yeah that's me too. I did pull onto the hard shoulder once this year as there was a huge tail back in Edinburgh on one of the hottest days. Radiator fan had kicked in 4 or 5 times and enough was enough...!

Did a sniff test today and all was well.. Temp still not acting normal (or as it used to). Sticky thermostat is where I am heading next.

PS: I thought that if I removed the brown sensor and started the car the fans would kick in, but the car would not start and no fans? Whats the procedure for testing the Rad Fan? Anyone know?

Unplug the brown sensor and the fan should run while the ignition is on. If you remove the sensor you'll have a large water leak...

Ok, Looks like with the ECU temp sensor unplugged and the ignition on there is no fan coming on. So I checked the fuse - all good which I guess points towards the Relay. Is this a standard part available in Halfords or anywhere other than elise parts??

Just to be sure my car is an S2 K Series and I guess the fans should still spin withthe sensor unplugged?

It certainly has an ECU senor and a Stack sensor, Now that you mention it the ECU sensor is Black - does this still work for testing the Rad Fan if you unplug it?

Ah sorry S1 it's the brown that does ECU temps.

I found a post on Seloc that confirms the setup for the S2. Black sensor feeds both ECU and Stack. The blue sensor only fills a hole and does nothing. Unplugging the black sensor does not work to test the fan.
