my beef with falkland was the fact they charged me 800 quid for 3 wheel bearings, and oil change, and to fit pads. Turns out they expect the customer to pay for the extra hours if they dont know how to do wheel bearings properly. Also turns out they didnt know the correct torque figures for the bearings either. Also turns out that you have to pay extra if they forget to order circlips when they order wheel bearings. Also turns out that they do a GEO you didnt ask for, set it up to stupid settings, then offer to redo the GEO for free when you complain, ignoring the fact that you didnt want it done in the first place.
other than that, no real beef

-passengers side window will not open, it's stuck in the shut position. handle doesn't turn anymore.
No biggy usually it's the wee screw that backs itself out jamming the window - circa £30
-there is a leak somewhere around the drivers side radiator hose, i've taken the hose off, put it back on, instant gasketed it and put an additional circlip on it but it still splashes the window with green water at speed.
More concerning as it sounds like a rad header failure rather than the pipe with it splashing onto the window
-the idle speed has started to go again, sometimes on start up it's 500 rpm, other times it's 2000 rpm
IACV by the sounds of it - did you replace it last time? Could also be the wiring leading up to. Try a reset. Remove the battery conections overnight - next day reconnect and start the car. DO NOT TOUCH THE THROTTLE until the car is up to operating temps, the car will rev up and then almost stall and it may do this quite a few times - it's just finding the right place
-the car runs like a bag of spanners again, feels like the engine is skipping or fuel starvation, no instant power when accelerating, the engine management light is on and it ocassionally back fires (which is embarrassing!)
You have an engine management issue which has put you into "limp home mode" I'll check the manual tonight to see what the possible causes are for this

I'm in Blantyre if you can get the car over to me one night I'll have a poke around.

mac,
I can get the car over to you anytime mate but it's booked into MMC this friday coming and it is seriously in limp home mode now mate! tbh i'm a bit nervous about driving it any distance at the moment.
i didn't get the IACV fixed as the problem seemed to clear itself when new plugs and a fuel filter were fitted.

PM me you details (addy etc) and I'll pop over tomorrow evening - should be able to get the IACV sorted too - hopefully you'll only need the window sorting as I'll have a poke around for the leak whilst I'm there.
