IIRC that one was a VX underneath...?

I thought the one that was a VX underneath was the S2 Exige that was at Le Mans...

Yeah, that's right. The VX was turned into a GT3 Exige.

The first one pictured looks like an original Autobytel Motorsport Elise race car (they were built as central seaters) but looks like it has an Exige roof and possibly a one-piece rear clam so it could be converted Exige.

I know of 3 cars that have been converted to central seat but they have all been out and out race cars without heaters or handbrakes etc. My plan was to build a car that had everything a road car needs and keep it road legal so sorting the handbrake and the air distribution for the heater was a challenge.

Dan,
I assume the regs for the class you want to run in are OK with the central seat position? I'm not that up on the blue book but that would be a bit of a blow!

Not keen on those steering wheels to be honest. Ok on a proper "slicks and wings" single seater with a really quick rack but could see that being an issue in the Elise.

I was going to put a Race Technology Dash2 in but decided to save my money in the end and have made some modifications to the original stack so it does everything I need it to and keeps the dash very neat with no extra gauges.

I'll document this in the near future.

Dan

p.s. Ali, yeah the regs are pretty free for the championship so it won't be a problem.

Lol! I didn't do the blog in real time Rich as there were months at a time where I made no progress at all on this so it would have been a bit disjointed.

Made a huge amount of progress over the last couple of weeks so nearly finished now. :D

Updated the first post again.

Not too much more to add. Will try to get a couple of decent interior shots to post up.

Any question, feel free to ask. :thumbsup
