Scott,

I got KU39's from Aberdeen Tyres for Exige, I checked online and Steve there matched the my best price and that was them fitted. He didn't stock them but got them on next day delivery.

Cheers

Julian is an old karting buddy of mine, his son raced with Steven and Anne Marie for years. Nice guy. :thumbsup

steve_weegie wrote:The T1-R's are great all round tyres, and i find them quite progressive on track, but the sidewall flex does take a bit of getting used to. As such they dont feel the the sharpest on turn in, but overall grip is pretty good I'd say. They are being phased out by Toyo in favour of the T1-S.

I have bought a set of KU39's to go on the Audi soon, as they seem well reviewed and good value for money - can't comment further yet though...
Just realised my first post wasn't very clear, but it was quite late when I posted... It was the soft sidewalls that made them terrible. I think I used to use 24psi Front and 26psi Rear (from memory) on the BFGs and T1Rs are hopeless at these pressures. I think I maybe upped the pressures to 30 Front and 32 Rear (again from memory) and this cured the sidewall flex.

Weird they're phasing them out for the T1Ss. When I first bought my Elise they were phasing the T1S out in favour of the T1R ( yet again from memory - maybe I should check some of this out properly  )

Not bad to be honest. I don't use my car as a daily runner, so it does not see to much wet weather use. My car also wants to go sideways all the time, especially in the wet (or is that the driver  ). I did run Toyos on my first elise, but that was too long ago to really compare. I'd say I have been happy with the Kumhos, and feel confident in the wet with them. The performed well at Tut towers trackday, (which was very wet); only being passed by the two 211's, and Kenny (who I wanted to follow for a bit)
Hard to say - probably a combination of sideways Dom and sideways Elise

I remember them being good in the dry on track but can't remember a wet day on them. However, I commuted for 2 years in my Elise (around 70 miles per day) on A and B roads and on poor surfaces I wasn't so sure about them. Not 'bad' just not quite as good as the T1R. I'm talking of pretty fine margins really - I'd rate them fairly equally other than the slight edge in the wet to the T1R.

Toyos are a safe all round road tyre, and great VFM, end of. No one pretends they are any good on a (dry) track day. On a wet one though...

You can still get fronts, but I wondered if these are ok for the rears

Ecsta SPT KU31 225/45 R16 89W with rim protection ridge

I have 111s wheels so 225's but the profile is 45 instead of 55?

Cheers

The profile should be 45 with 225's.

Do the Ecsta LE Sport not come in S1 sizes? I found them better than the KU31 on the S2 anyway.
