New Trackday Tyres
Re: New Trackday Tyres
I wouldn't trust the Corsas to last a Frolic and I saw a set of rear Trofeos killed off in a morning on the last Frolic at Anneau du Rhin so I'll be sticking with ZZRs for this
Exige V6
Re: New Trackday Tyres
Trofeo's and corsa are very different. The trofeo's are very soft and wouldn't last corsa is a more road orientated tyre and lasted no problem on the R8. Ended up doing about 4500 miles on the set from Spazz. Corsa is standard fittment on many Porsche.

I have only done 2000miles on my Corsas, but will probably get a new set of tyres for the Frolic, as I don't want to chance it and be driving like Miss Daisy worrying about tyres when I should be just having fun.
So Mike thinks Corsas would be fine, as his R8(obviously a heavier car) was no problem with them last year.
Neil doesn't think that they will last a whole Frolic and will be using ZZRs.
Kinger could be using Toyo 888 as worn ZZRs in the wet were a little unnerving on the way home(am I correct with this Graham?)
Also Kinger tried the PZeros but not the Lotus specific type too, but cannot remember his analysis.
Toyo 888R not available in V6 sizes until well after the Frolic.
Avon ZZS not available in V6 sizes either.
I have just noticed that a guy on The Lotus Forums has bought some new TrofeoR tyres and is having a Trackday this Monday.
http://www.thelotusforums.com/forums/to ... feo/page-5
Seriously Lotus are now selling them; http://www.seriouslylotus.com/wheels-ty ... ige-v6-346
Chris Harris review; http://youtu.be/rrLQpAt5Mes
There was a discussion on here not too long ago (before I bought my one in March) about the V6 Exige and track tyres but I cannot find it. (Anyone help?)
Confused but doing my homework,
Steve.
Re: New Trackday Tyres
Whereas I had to change my underwear after driving home on shot Corsas after Oulton & Cadwell last year.... ZZR's or 888's will definitely last the trip.C7Steve wrote: Kinger could be using Toyo 888 as worn ZZRs in the wet were a little unnerving on the way home(am I correct with this Graham?)

Re: New Trackday Tyres
I'll be fitting a new set of ZZRs for Frolic. My most recent set have covered 250 miles round Rockingham, a Walshy Car Limits day, a morning at Knockhill and all the commuting between. On the legal limit now and I have a nail in one tyre:-(
Also on the wish list are 4 new discs and pads. Memories of SPAZ last year, Neil...

Re: New Trackday Tyres
Trofeo R's certainly won't last and AFAIK aren't available on Pirelli's site in Exige sizes anyway. Weird how SL have them given Pirelli don't show them

Re: New Trackday Tyres
Hi Steve,
I'll be on 888's, its just a preference thing. I don't think there is much between them and the ZZR's, but it the wet I feel way more confident with the 888's. I was having a ball with well worn rear's at the March SIDC day when it was pi--ing down.
I used new P Zero's on the Oulten / Cadwell trip in November, main reason was heavy rain forecast for the journey down and back. In the wet they were fine, both trackdays were dry and they weren't bad at all. I was lapping with Doug who was on ZZR's that said my car was sqirming about a lot more than him on some of the bends. The P Zero's were fine after two hard trackdays at Oulten and Cadwell, plenty of tread left.
ZZR's were great on the dry Spazz, my only issue was the tread started to part company for the carcass after I got home, think I was just unlucky.
Pretty sure I'll be on 888's again

Re: New Trackday Tyres
Can you not get AD08's in the correct size?
I can't see passed them tbh[THUMBS UP SIGN]

I'll be taking a full set of standard pads with me. I've also got a spare pair of front discs which I might drag alongDougT wrote:I'll be fitting a new set of ZZRs for Frolic. Kinger,
Did you adjust your tyre pressures at all?
On road its front 32, rear 38 and on track 30 all round once up to temperature, then add some air back in after the track.
Cheers,
Steve.

Pretty sure I just set them to 30 for the track and went home with whatever they were at when it was time to leave. Only made adjustments for the track. Got to say I can't recall seeing many folk changing tyre pressures after track day finished. SE contingent usually to busy getting back to the bar for banter and light refreshments
Re: New Trackday Tyres
I was in Tawse Tyres in Inverurie today changing over from winter to summer tyres on Kathys car.
I also got a quote for a set of Avon ZZRs for the Frolic. (Exige V6)
Front size 215/40/17 £215 each (supplied and fitted)
Rear size 265/35/18 £285 each (supplied and fitted)
I have not priced elsewhere yet, but if any of you see a cheaper deal, can you post it up please. Thanks.
Kinger, Neil, where are you getting your tyres from? Will you be getting them fitted by MMC on the way, or will you have done it beforehand?
Cheers,
Steve.
