Re: Soap Box Build - Team Gravity Calamity
Blowing a hooley today and not much time at it.
Front platform is now glued and screwed.

And beginning to measure up for steering and seating. We're on the absolute limit of the dimensions and it's a tight fit for G. Will be comical to see any Adults fitting into the same space.
Going to do a central column like a go kart. It would be very tight if we have to build a space for legs and risk goes up in a bump. So better for this design anyway. Also planning on a split steering column as much for safety as anything else.

Lou is not going to be impressed if she finds out there's s pic of her hanging up washing.....
I'm now back to work and away most of the week so will have to do another wee sprint before the weekend. Time is tight....

It's a lot rougher than it looks in the pics.
TBH weight is beginning to be a problem. I think we'll be skirting quite close to the 80 kg.

Re: Soap Box Build - Team Gravity Calamity
Had to squeeze in another session after dinner tonight before I go south for a few days.
I'd been struggling to think how to support the steering wheel and column. So I decided to build a centre steering support due to size issues explained earlier. This might be a little form over function but it was fun to make. I'm also now reducing the volume of wood involved to reduce overall weight. Chances are it'll go over a jump and land with a thud at this rate. lol
Light was fading so pictures not so good..

Is that a Morgan that you are building?
Looking good!
If over weight, get the drill / hole cutter out.

This is looking awesome!
I am really keen to see how you are going to work out the steering?

The removal of some strategic wood is on the cards I think.
Steering is in progress. We're learning a bit about milling in the process.
