I've heard of someone fitting the pads the wrong way round (ie, friction material facing the piston... metal backing on to the disc...... The garage technician who told me was dumb-founded when the owner brought it in...

My brakes have been squealing recently, but not when applied. My fronts make a squeaking/squealing noise when I'm travelling along the road. When I brake, it goes away. I know it's the fronts because application of the handbrake doesn't stop the noise, but application of the footbrake does. They were doing this on the way back from the Kames trackday today but don't do it if I'm just driving to work and back.

Any ideas? I'm still on OEM brakes.
