Really I should be running a mappable ECU (IE Hondata) but it was a massive cost so hoped to use the standard ECU then upgrade in the future. So i converted my loom to use the Jap Ecu (no immobiliser & wideband 02). All runs fine apart from the emissions. I am only using the primary 02 which may be the problem.

It would be good to hear from any of the other Honda'd Elise's, see if there running standard ECU's and more importantly if you are using both 02 sensors. Any comments welcome.

Cheers
Alan

P.S Thanks for all the help Ali ! :thumbsup
Find a friendlier MOT station? :D :D :D

Looks utterly fabulous by the way. If you ever want to build another one for me that would be great???

Alan

Not even sure if my lambda is working, think it may have burnt out, but it passed its MOT emissions no prob.

I have a K-Pro which you could borrow, should be no problem matching it up with one of the maps which they supply.

I would plug in a standard sensor into the second O2 sensor connector and see whether this changes emissions at all? Also, have you got the OBDII data port wired up - if so, you should be able to see what the ECU is seeing using the live data readings - this might help narrow it down a bit.

Cheers,
Robin

Thanks Robin/Tut.

I made the Engine Loom myself Robin, so don't have any wiring for the 2nd 02 sensor. I think the trouble is that the standard ECU is OBD2 but i am trying to run it OBD1. A Hondata allows you to switch to OBD1. Thought i would get away with it but it looks like i was wrong.

Tut - I forgot your engine was a JDM ! as that would plug straight in. You free tonight ? I could plug in your Hondata and upload a Stark Map i have, that will confirm my wiring and 02 sensor are all ok.

I can't drive the car to yours Tut as it has no MOT and even if I did I would have no way of testing the emissions. Thinking of bitting the bullet and buying a kpro. Its what should be on the car and I can get a good map, even alter it for MOT .

Officially you can drive the car Alan, it has a partial MOT so you can take it back to the MOT station to finish it.

Which roundabout route you use to get there is another matter.

IMO bite the bullet and get the KPro, should be done with the conversion anyway, and you have gone to the expense of doing the paint/seats etc would be daft not to make the engine run at its best.

Yup, I posted it away this morning. Nae happy to be spending the money at the moment, but if it gets it on the road then we'll just have to go ahead with it. Guess the bathroom can wait another month.....

Tut, Thanks for the offer but the Kpro should arrive Friday. I have been waiting a year so far whats another couple of days. Agree with whats being said, You should Map the ECU specific to your car as everything is different but its so expensive and was hoping to upgrade in a few months when my bank balance recovers. Ah well, Beans and toast for another month !

I have been taking loads of pics over the week, couple of good ones of the car pretty much complete.
