If we keep the same spec maybe next time when ali gives it back it me it wont be knackered..... again!
Agreed, fix it for minimum outlay and save up for next time I break it! :)

(bottom end is 'fairly' new (35K miles), I think after Mr Ironside discovered it wouldn't run without oil...)

btw Mr Ed, you hold the current record for shortest time between official handover and breakdown (in an unlikely to be beaten 1 minute/300 yards).

Mind you it was broken when I gave it to you but at least it still moved under it's own steam (poor hgf pun).

With all this talk of bottom ends and throttle bodies and the associated reliability issues, I wouldn't rule out a properly done NA Honda conversion.

I think a more powerful starter motor might be good a good upgrade.

 Thats not really sticking to the shed ethos though is it?!

Tbh if ali thinks 150bhp is too much for me then i think i know what he will say about 220. Plus it really needs to be a K for Hillclimbing and Sprinting as i dont think hondas are allowed! :)

Yeah, a Honda would triple the value of the shed...

Reg's for Scottish Hills and sprints (Marque Sports Cars) stipulate an engine type originally fitted to the car (or some such wording). So Honda/Duratec/Audi are out... Mods and engine capacity are unlimited however, also by that definition turbo and supercharging is fine. :?
Graeme Bremner has an S1 Exige with TT S/C this year.

So you could have a turbo or S/C 2L K to any horsepower, pretty much any g/box you like, Yota cars can be S/C etc. to ANY horsepower but a simple N/A Honda is outlawed....

...well not outlawed, just put into a class it'd never be competitive in.

Edited to add: 3rd world diet for ya!

Does it need to be road legal ?

Dropping lights and avarious other MOT fails would save plenty of weight. Feck it do you REALLY need doors windows screen ?

Also sticking with the K lets you budget for the consumeables e.g. engine.

for the road going classes it needs to be, well, road going - as in it could be driven on the road but doesn't need to be (if you see what I mean) so it will need lights and a windscreen (or maybe not - it's pretty vauge in the blue book - open top cars are windscreen optional)

Hmmm - interesting.

Would be good to see Mr Ed at the hillclimb scene (and a few other SE'rs?)

...IIRC the rules for Scotland are different fro those in the blue book though. Tut I think had problems with DB after sprinting N1 post conversion? It's been a while so I can't remember all (if anything) of the ins and outs of classes.
