Next time I see our chief engineer (and car nut) I'll have a chat with him as regards the bearings and hubs. All the bearings we fit are shrink fitted, but of course are more thoroughly engineered than Lotus would have for the S1 so we don't see any similar issues, despite the heat. We so don't use any locking compounds either, but he may have experience of them. I've no idea how economical it would be, but will run past him the possibility of plasma spraying the inner dia. of the extrusion. It should provide a more temperature stable and wear resistant seat. Having said that, plasma repairs are defiantly not my area.
