What he said, measure the liner heights with a straight edge and feeler gauges: 0.15mm standproud from memory.
If it's the same on all 4 then then the MLS might work, if they are not quite the same then the elastomer gasket might work, otherwise it'll need work on the block...

Craig, if you need one I have a few new elastomer gaskets lying around including a new Payen BW750 somewhere.

Thanks Mike but got one form Dingers.
Thanks to everyone on here for all the help. Cleaned up the surfaces and measured the liners at approx 0.1 but its quite difficult to get accurate measurments. Put it all back together and it ran perfect. Did around 30 miles in it last night without issue so all good.
Thanks Craig.
PS When first taken out the temp shot up to half way, turns out the heating system had not bled so used a hose to fluch water through and that cured it.

Were all the liners about the same height?
Did you use a normal elastomer gasket?
If so it should be fine

They were all proud and around the same, I couldnt get repeatable results when trying at 0.05 or at least that I was confident with. The best I can say is they were between 0.05 and 0.15, I believe nearer to 0.1. Used the elastomer gasket so hopefully it will be fine. The issue was with cylinder four leaking into the water as you could see creamy build up around the liner, the block surface cleaned up like a mirror but the head on cylinder 4 had small indents (very small) so Im not too hopefull in the long term. Its not my car and I gave the guy the option of taking it out and sending back to the guy he bought it from and he chose to take a chance.
Fingers crossed

If it was a Lotus S2 135 engine there is a fair degree of chance that the head is goosed - many of them have suffered repeated HGF and it's not clear whether that's because they were badly assembled, repeated overheat causing soft heads, or whether the heads are from a bad batch and all are soft ... if there are fire-ring shaped dents in the head, it needs skimmed and hardness tested. Now you've assembled it, no point in worry about it - with light use it might last forever - on track it will probably die in hours.
Cheers,
