If the bolt is stuck fast I suggest an impact driver ... assuming the thread is alloy and the bolt is steel and that there is or was no Duralac used, you will need to break free the threads that will be "welded" together; the impact driver will do this whilst minimizing the risk of damaging the bolt head.

The hinge seems to be fastened to a beam running through the door. The door is now off, and in the boot of the Citroën - hopefully the friendly local motor engineer can shift it with some heat...

Ok. Heat on the end of the bolt didn't work. Next step remove door closer and heat the back of hinge which is the extrusion itself. Any other ideas? Motor engineer doubts an impact wrench will help.
Having said that anyone mr killie have one i could borrow?

There is a very real chance I will never get my car back together again, isn't there?

200 quid for the new hinge (rapidly coming to the conclusion that bolt is there to stay).

Or a length of tape to stop me falling out, or one of those chains they have on kiddies rollercoasters.

The bolt is the one that goes through the eye at the top and bottom; top one came out, bottom one won't (so in normal life it lives pointing upwards).

Robin

Can you get the hinge off of the door as well as the car?

Will definitely be able to do something with it then.

Any help and advice welcome (I'm not mechanically minded you know, I just like learning new stuff).

The hinge is made up of two parts, a stator that fits to the car, and a beam that goes through the door. I have removed the stator from the car but I haven't removed the beam from the door.

Clearly if I buy an new assembly I'll have to remove the beam, which presently I am avoiding doing.

Option 1.
Buy impact wrench (Dewalt 80 quid from toolstation at the moment and I have a battery to fit).
This might not work. But I would end up with a new tool.

Option 2.
Take grinder to the stator, this will reveal the bolt, but might not release it. Only 30 quid (plus VAT and delivery). But might not work. Fallback is a whole new assembly.

Option 3.
Lean on the f.ucker with a scaffolding pole. It might break. Then try option 2.

The door is still attached to the beam. Hmmm...

Woody if you can get it off that would be ace. How?

Advice, as always, welcome.
