Stupid question... and no I am not female ;)
Re: Stupid question... and no I am not female ;)
ok photobucket on the way
Re: Stupid question... and no I am not female ;)
not sure if this is from when i topped up a little oil, and this is spillage... as surely when MMC had the car and replaced the alternator etc. they would have seen this
Re: Stupid question... and no I am not female ;)
A little split oil can go a long way, and look like much more than it actually is. Was there any oil drips/puddles on your driveway where you park the car?
Re: Stupid question... and no I am not female ;)
nope - never had any drips or spotting ever - and its lock block here and an underground car park during the day most days.
Re: Stupid question... and no I am not female ;)
Wipe it all up as far as you can and watch it like a hawk.
Oil P lamp flickering, 0.5L needed to top up and oil on an undertray sets my paranoia to 11...

While you're under there, just check the sump plug is done up tight - unlikely to be that as there's oil above it, but you can get at it easily and it's a simple fix so daft not to.
Last picture, big bolt in middle of shot. Remember, lefty loosey, righty tighty! No need to heave on it - if it's nipped up and not moving, it won't be that.

To be fair at second glance it looks fresh oil, no crap stuck to it so you might have just sloshed it.

Re: Stupid question... and no I am not female ;)

I assume this is the oil pressure switch ?
if so - I am also assuming as i can not get the light to flicker by pulling, pushing/wiggling the loom that it is not electrical -- hence if i remove the switch and start the car.. the light should be ON??
Thoughts
Oh and its def not a leak, as sump plug tight, and no other signs of oil, its just the teeny bit i sloshed over the other night
Re: Stupid question... and no I am not female ;)
Cool - nope, if it's pulled it should be off - the sensor grounds to switch the light on (I think Robin has said this bit) You're looking for any chafing in the wire that could lead to it touching on the block or chassis. Doesn't look likely from that shot TBH. It may then be a sensor on its way out.

Re: Stupid question... and no I am not female ;)
hahaha - ok so i pulled the plug, and no light as per above info from you guys..
soooo--- in my infanite lack of wisdom i decided to remove the pressure sensor switch....hey presto, instant coverage of oil almost in the face!!
I think i will just order a new one, fit and then see how it is.
once i clean the fecking lock block!!

Re: Stupid question... and no I am not female ;)
Do not remove the switch It'll pish oil everywhere!
Pull the connector and ground the wire and the light should come on, then wiggle the wiring see if the light flickers.
Edit oops to late...

Top marks for effort. Top tip for future - big sheet of old cardboard on the driveway before any oil operations

Re: Stupid question... and no I am not female ;)
Ha..... yeh lesson learnt... was only a teeny bit that came out to be fair... but the "holly f*ck" its headed for me heed... was the scary bit, as reaction was to sit up... not a good idea underneath the car.
Anyway - decided that i will replace the switch, then go for a burn and see if its sorted. If not then back to the garage and the warenty company can get yet another bill!!
Thanks for all the help guys, it is super appreciated.
Will update you guys once the switch arrives in a few days
