Scrappys, Rover parts place or I've got a spare kicking about if you want it. Think it came off Mac's car at one stage when he was trying to trace a fault.
Does the one off Mac's car work? i.e. it wasn't the fault?

If you still have it, i'd welcome it with open arms! 8)

Iain

You can check the earth possibility if you have not yet done so by using a jump lead from the battery to a suitable engine/gearbox lug.

Also check the voltage supply into the ECU.

I'm also going to have to get a new battery - the terminals on the current (sic) one are corroded and it won't hold a charge. I know this can sometimes affect starting too, so it will shorten the list of possibilities...

Thanks,
Iain

Like I said, tow the car down here and we'll fix it - if this is Matt's old car which I failed to come up and fix ( :-( ) then we won't get very far this way - there is something unusually wrong with the car and we need to find out what that is - I cannot do that by remote control :-(

Cheers,
Robin

It is Matt's old car, but it's a hoore of a distance to tow it down, i'd need to trailer it down...

I think it's going to be the sensible option though... just too many variables...

No chance of you putting your thermals on and heading up beyond the Great Glen in the near future?

Dude - I would love to help out, but realistically I cannot make any promises right now.

Meanwhile, I didn't answer your question on ECU - answer - I left it at Emerald to get upgraded to K3 type - makes perfect sense for 20 quid - so when it's done, I'll get them to ship it to you and you can send it to me when you're done - however, when exactly that will be I cannot say, as it's just Dave and Karl, and Dave isn't allowed to touch anything electrical, who knows when they'll get around to it!

I've been thinking about making a test circuit for the S1 MEMS though as we're going to have more-and-more of these failures ... next weekend should be quiet, so if I get to it you can be the first victim :-)

Cheers,
Robin

Thanks again Robin,

Got her going today - see my thread in General... 8)

Looks like it was a combination of a few simple things, including not being run for 5 months, very dirty plugs, flooding and a stuck starter.

Definitely Matt's problem was the ECU but the new one I got off Scotty appears to be doing the trick - she purrs like a kitten now (well a 60K miler kitten in need of a good service, MOT and a hefty blast round my back roads  ;))

Need a new battery though - the posts on the oldd one are manky...
