Engine error codes 0444, 0076, 2648 and 0508
Could it be a fault with the ECU?
I don't really know anything about the Yota engine and Mac has probably already mentioned the ECU on the phone last night.
But I remember that we had a similar but slightly different problem a few years back where the ECU got soaked and as a result the car ran really crap.
It ran initially for about 6 miles with no problems but then started kangarooing all over the place with loss of power. Couldn't really get it out of 1st gear - result was towed home by AA, new ECU later (thanks to Robin) and the car was fine. That was all due to the fact the ECU got soaked.
Just a thought!!
Hope you get it sorted.

Agreed that the ECU is a possible culprit, but the proximity of these sensors implies to me that it's more likely to be a loom fault. Given a wiring diagram for the 111R/S2 exige I would be able to identify the likely position of the fault by finding where the indicated circuits have a common run, but I don't have that diagram. Does anyone?
Cheers,
Robin

I have got some pages of the wiring diagrams for the 111r/exige which show all the wires/connectors from the ECU. Might be of some use?robin wrote:Agreed that the ECU is a possible culprit, but the proximity of these sensors implies to me that it's more likely to be a loom fault. It's going to be a good start - robin@iddon.no-ip.com if you can scan them or they are already PDF?ryallm wrote:I have got some pages of the wiring diagrams for the 111r/exige which show all the wires/connectors from the ECU. Check fuse R6 [7.5A] which I think is one of the fuses in the engine bay stuck to the wall somewhere near the middle (i.e. somewhere between driver and pax seats).
It is responsible for powering all the circuits that your ECU is complaining about. Also there is an engine harness connector somewhere between that fuse and the engine (don't know where) and there is a splice in the loom.
If you or your pal are comfortable doing this, pop the connector of the back of VVT oil valve (it's near the driver's side front corner of the engine).
Check with a multi-meter that the green and pink wire is at +12 when the ignition is on. If it isn't, then you need to trace back why - it's either fuse R6, the splice or the engine harness connector.
Cheers,
Robin

Thanks Robin hopefully my friend will be here soon, he has quite a drive to get to my house. I will let you know soon I hope. He is good with cars so I am sure he will be able to follow what you have said.robin wrote:Check fuse R6 [7.5A] which I think is one of the fuses in the engine bay stuck to the wall somewhere near the middle (i.e. somewhere between driver and pax seats).

Robin you trully are a genius fuse R6 was indeed the offending device. We had checked it last night and could not see the break in it but it was blown. My friend John who had driven many a mile up North to help me out (what a top man) plugged his laptop in with his software and found that I had seven error codes not teh four that teh local garage could see. All codes cleared down. All now working fine. Basically it would appear that the low oil level had caused a drop in oil pressure which had triggered this whole series of events. Of course I did not have a spare 7.5 amp fuse so a wee trip to visit Dezzy as local garage had fuses starting at 15 amps and he kindly supplied a replacement fuse. Mil light away and even after a high speed run it did not return.
So the saga ends I am off to TT2007 in my Exige yippee.
So no hot date tonight but total car sex is on the cards
See you all tomorrow.
Must phone Ronnie in the morning to make sure my tyres are with him as the ones I have are so bald not even enough tread for a comb over.
Major thanks to all on her who have assisted over the past two days what a great crowd of guys and gals
Boy am I happy now

Not at all JJ at least we tried yesterday just one of those things I guess. If we had had Robin's amazing diagnosis we may have looked harder at fuse R6 and woudl have seen it.jj wrote:Doh! Feeling a bit daft seeing as we had all the fuses out one by one and I thought they were all OK! Lesson learned....![]()
Good news you are on the road, see you tomorrow....

Indeed - the Jedi master spotted it from miles away without seeing it!ExigeKen wrote:Not at all JJ at least we tried yesterday just one of those things I guess.
