Hi Jim, how about an exhaust manifold and backbox to release the full hp from N3?

Would love an over the top to get the bugger away from the driveshaft, but did not want to lose the boot.

Jim and I have a history. Craig's and mine cars were trial mules for Jim to develop manifolds and back boxes for the S/C Hondas in the earlier days. He did a great job on Craig's, but was fitting mine at Ricky's a couple of days before my Donnie track day. Unfortunately it was fouling the driveshaft so he went home to make up an other one overnight. Understandably at that point he decided he had had enough with Hondas, but he came back the next day and fitted my originals back on, plus a secondary silencer box in place of the CAT pipe so that I would pass the sound regs.

He has a big customer base now for all the models that have come out since, and an excellent reputation for his products, so I have just stuck with the original designs by Scuffers from six years ago for the N/A engine.

Down on power but compensated by talent.............

I see,
Its Jim's Exhaust thats on mine Tut. He has been very helpfull over the last few months. Originally bought an 8" but due to Stark not jigging the manifold correctly it didn't fit. I now have a 7" with a custom pipe Jim made up which helped me out big time.

Back on Topic - If your considering a Rear Silencer, 2bular's gets :thumbsup from me.

Best of luck with the rest of the conversion

Well thought I would post some sort of update, and yes i know this thread is worthless with out pictures, but i know Dan has been working flat out and hasn't probably had a minute to himself. Anyway long and short is supercharger is now installed and the car is running (hope that is still the case Dan?) apparently the install was fairly straight forward but will leave dan to explain.

The car was dynoed before any work took place. Before I had the car picked up I had the Lotus remap carried out to the car to reduce the cam switch over, and i don't know if this had anything to do with it but when dynoed, Dan reported a marked Dip of torque at the cam switch over point. The car only produced 176bhp on the rolling road which is slightly less than i expected but no faults were evident.

So next thing is to get it back up on the rollers on Monday morning to see what the new figures are, and after that it will be transported back up to me on monday afternoon. Fingers crossed all goes well over the next few days.

Dan kindly got some photos and info to me last night so though i would post up what he sent me

Hi Euan,

As promised here are the photos and a few comments on the install.

Firstly, I have to say the kit is very good and I am impressed. I will certainly be looking into importing these kits I reckon.

There are a couple of things I am not totally happy with but it would take a bit of time to come up with a solution.

The kit is obviouly designed originally for the Elise so the charcoal canister bracket in the kit doesn't really work properly in the Exige. I manged to relocate it and get everything to fit but not happy with the vacuum lines running where they are. It isn't as neat as I would like. (things like that really bother me ). To sort it properly the vacuum lines and charcoal canister wiring need extending so the canister can be mounted on the other side of the roll bar out of sight. That will make the install much neater and its something I will hapilly do for you FOC once I have developed a solution.

The other thing I would like to do is make a cover to replace the existing injector cover that is larger so it covers the supercharger completely. Not only will this make the install neater, it could be handy for European countries where modifications aren't strictly legal and concealing them is preferable.

The only other thing I'm not happy with its the bit of rubber pipe supplied in the kit to extend the oil drain pipe from the cam cover. It just doesn't look very nice. unfortunately I didnt have any silicone hose the right diameter so had to use it. Something that I will change for you in the future.

One thing I must mention is that if you ever take the car into the dealers for any work you must give them specific instructions not to do any updates on the ECU as this could bugger up your map.

Right, now the pictures.

Engine cover off. As it was.

New air filter needed methinks! New one on the right btw.

Inlet manifold and associated gubbins removed

The old inlet manifold

New supercharger and manifold assembly, ready to install

And again from the other side

Image

Supercharger bolted in place.

Completed install

Image

And again from another angle

Image

With the engine cover on. All finished!

Image

Makes it look really easy doesn't it! There are 100s of small steps I didn't picture like modifying the diptick tube and oil drain pipes, wiring new connectors for the different injectors, etc, etc. Its a good 12 hours for the install. Can probably that down to about 10 if I did a few.

The car is being dynoed this morning and made just under 240bhp, so that is a massive 60bhp increase from the first run, not to mention a lot more torque. . Absolutely delighted and now can't wait to get the car back home to get a drive of it. Must thank Dan for all his hard work and being willing to take on a bit of an unknown project, but the results speak for themselves :D

Good to see that Dan is getting the hang of Elises/Exiges.

<BG>

Also that owners are going for different type conversions, the more the merrier. Looks as if Dan did a great job, bet Kenny is counting his pennies at the moment.

Before and after comparison of dyno plots. Same dyno, same conditions etc. 60.7 bhp increase but just look at the shift in the torque curve. Car feels great to drive.

If that standard torque curve is as it should be on a 111R - and there's no reason to suggest that it's not - then it explains a helluva lot about why I find it a pain to drive with pace. How awful is that valley before the cam-change!!!

Nice straight line torque with the charger though - will be a totally different car.

So, Dan, have we established any pricing options yet?

Not totally the same as the standard 111R torque curve as Euan had the cam change point dropped with the Lotus remap. Not convinced it was right on Euan's car as when I drove it there was a big hesitation AFTER the cam change (5750 RPM). I mentioned it to Euan but obviously its a non issue now the ECU has been reflashed.

Yup the price for the standard kit will be £3800 inc VAT fully fitted and warranted. Will sort prices for air to air and air to water intercooler options when I have them finalised.

Oh and Tut, yup doing chargecoolers on the Hondas now.

Cheers
