No, but I did drive it approximately 3000 miles previously, so there's every chance it can go against my stats.

Plus you've probably been in his garage when it was sitting there. Nothing to say the piston didn't break when you looked at it one day.

160 K-series

Why?

why 160bhp? ................. any properly tuned K with stock head, and mild cams cannot possibly deliver less than 180/190bhp even on stock pistons, though they are the limitation.

Otherwise with forged pistons, and a tuned cam, ported head, and a properly designed exhaust [and I mean not the connect A to B types commercially available], a stock plenum engined K is capable of well over 200 brake -

so why 160?

Thats a relic of old school thinking.

Duratec

Why

it's heavy at 112kg - compared to stock K 84kg, it is a relic of old fashioned 1950 design - an ally cast of the old old Zetec design, and it's expensive and more will kill the resale value of your car.

Honda
Why?

it's full of badly designed parts - see separate thread

it weighs 124kg [even with lightweight JDM flywheel] compared to stock Rover [ie with heavy flywheel]at 84kg, and there is more weight in the box etc

it's only 220bhp and 155lbft

and bloody expensive for a scrapper engine, or £16,500 plus 4/5 grand rebuild to have MSC do it for you!

mad mad mad

Jet turbine
My Uncle and Great Uncles did that -

very fast in a straight line

but very slow round corners [like a honda] - it's the weight

Dave,

I think you should rebuild the one you have, assuming nothing wrong with block/crank?

Rog will sort the valves I'm sure.

Cheers,
