Honda Conversion
Re: Honda Conversion
I do find it funny that everybody used to slag of the gearchange on Honda's, they everybody has just copied my linkage design.... (amongst other things...)
Re: Honda Conversion
Without getting into the whole who designed what malarky, I still think your linkage is the best of those i have tried, very simple and allows you full control dependant on the lengths used in the pivot. I used brass bushes on the bolts which seemed to give a decent action. I guess the problem is by using this extra pivot you introduce a new point of error and when not set up correctly its the easiest thing to blame. Has anyone done this setup with effectively double sheer on the pivot points to stop flex?Scuffers wrote:I do find it funny that everybody used to slag of the gearchange on Honda's, they everybody has just copied my linkage design.... Re: Honda Conversion
N1 must have been one of your earliest conversions Simon, done by Rich and Jonny in 2004.
About a year later he sent me a new set of upgraded bright green gear cables, were these your design as well? Never got around to fitting them so will put them on N3 along with a new SC belt, which has been on for seven years now and over 100,000 miles.

Re: Honda Conversion
Sandy, spotted this on exiges.com
I've no idea if this is a good price or not but thought it might be of interest to you.

Re: Honda Conversion
Thanks Dave,
I spotted this myself last week, it is also on Ebay. I did send A Pm on Exiges.com and Ebay, but have had no reply to either. It would be an easy way to complete the build quickly.
I have to make a final decision soon or this build will drag on for ever.

the green cables were only for testing, no idea how you ended up with a set?
the production ones are black, very much like OEM (made by the same people), made slightly shorter than OEM and with different ends (for rod-ends).
I keep reasonable stocks of these as they are not made in low numbers.

500 quid for linkage and cables, seam welding a cage and short shift, maybe £600 all in.
