cleaning out soot
thought about that mate, but given the 8 hours tom's car spent up on the ramp with Lawrence/Robin etc helping out, my fear is it won't get done in time before light fails or a monumental fcukup of Greg proportions intervenes and we run out of talent & ideas (and probably tools & parts!) that means the car ends up in a worse state than it was.

Still got the offer offer of my undercroft, dry and lit. Got people round for dinner tonight but you are more than welcome to it. Could even span it over a couple of days if we keep it tidy enough. Only issue is no power down there (working on it).
Click on the RAV link below to see the undercroft.

Would 'Farmers' do it for you? Speak to the friendly MoT tester, he seemed reasonable...Also handy for the re-test.GregR wrote:steam venting here... I cannot get anywhere to fit my farking manifold........Anyone suggest any other 'competent' garage that you'd trust your elise with?
Or try the garage in Broxburn who've done a few Elise MoT's.
Why did Toms take so long, was there a problem, or is it just awkward?
Green Subaru Impreza Turbo, a 'classic'.

Happy to lend you a hand if things are getting desperate.
I have a pretty well equipped spot down at my folks place in Ayrshire but that’s not exactly handy. It does however run to pretty much anything you could possibly need tools wise.
Probably a last resort but the offer is there if you want it. Also happy to help somewhere else if that suits better. Can B.O.R (bring own ramps).

Job done, manifold on, flexi on, MOT passed.
Car sounds great, but I do miss the pops from the knackered flexi! Having seen the 2 manifolds (I have the S1 spare just incase anyone needs), the S2 yin seems a far better design - larger bore, and proper, non flattened bends unlike the S1 unit.
Absolutely no idea if there's more torque - still hairs to 90 tuts fast enough to slap a grin on my face, and flies on me forehead!
Cheers to all for their help
