Well, what can I say . . . true SE spirit tonight! Can't thank you guys enough: John, Ken and Steve. We got through:

- Headlight bulb change on Ken's car
- Headlight bulb change on my car
- Finally fitted my new headlight cover (to replace cracked one)
- Cleaned / re-oiled air filter
- Oil change
- Brake fluid change
- Drinking tea :D

Really can't express how much I appreciate the help guys, especially John for coming so far and providing so much expert advice. I owe you all several beers. Getting this stuff done in a garage would have cost a fair wee bit. Thanks!

Been out to check the brakes are okay. They seemed to be squeaking a bit at first while just driving along - that is, while not braking. I guess must have been new fluid pushing caliper into the pads and onto the disks? Had went away by the end of my wee blast, but will keep an ear out for it again.

No leaking from the caliper nipples that I can see. Brake warning light was doing the thing it used to do when my pads were low and coming on while cornering hard to the right, so have topped up a wee bit.

Braking feels good. Nice and firm and, while it's probably psychological, I feel as if the pedal doesn't travel as far as it used to before the brakes kick in. I'm also convinced my ABS kicks in earlier. Could this be true or just my imagination? Better fluid => stronger braking => locks up more easily => ABS kicks in earlier. Does that make sense?

Just heard from John and his water is right down again and he's currently at side of M8 near Coatbridge. He's off to phone the AA but I'm going to head out with water for him if they're not going to come quick enough.

Thanks again for all the help! Couldn't have done this without SE! :thumbsup

Just heard from John. Local garage on the way to him and will be there by 12:15, which is roughly when I would get there anyway, so he's going to just wait for them and hopefully get a low loader home.

Feel really bad that he's came all this way to help me and then broken down on the way home. Hopefully he'll get it all sorted for Saturday.

John thinks he needs a new header tank and cap (seems to be leaking from the cap not screwing on tight). He's going to order one from Elise parts in the hope that it's here by Saturday, but I'll also pop up a separate post to see if anyone here has a spare he could get in case the new one doesn't arrive.

Cheers,
D

Dezzy it was a pleasure mate, thanks for the headlamp bulb. Steve great to meet up with you. John a complete master class in suction and special devices, not to mention smelling and tasting oils and brake fuids.

Quote of the night from Dezzy "Will my penis enlarger have a long enough pipe to reach the back wheel nipple?" You just had to be there. John did try and compete with the stupid remarks but never really came up to Dezzy's standard.

John sorry to hear that you are having problems yet again. I hope that you get it sorted very soon. Dont worry about being middle aged it is just a phase you pass through

Catch you all on Sunday.

As Dezzy says real SE spirit tonight.

By the way Dezzy has a hot neigbour 8) Might have to help him again some time

I would just like to make it clear for all who were not there tonight that at no point did I use the phrase "penis enlarger" . . . But I have noticed that the pump from the oil sooker ooterer has disappeared . . . someone must have borrowed it for other uses!

I think we all used it for some fluid extraction at some point last night though  Thankfully kens photo of my "between the legs" pumping technique was out of focus

Nice to meet you all too - no doubt we'll catch up during this weekends antics!

Cheers,

Steve
