Front Clam Off

Post by Ron » Sat Sep 15, 2007 4:36 pm

Going to be getting the front off this week as i think my rad fan is goosed. Is there anything else i should get changed/checked while it's off?

Is that elise parts ally rad (not the race one) any better than the standard one apart from the ally end caps?

Are Braided brake hoses worth it? I've heard they're easier to replace with the clam off.

Cheers

Worthwhile upgrade on the S2 IIRC, as the plastic end caps on the standard rad are pish.

I had the standard rad end caps leak on my car and so have many others hence I went for the fancy alloy one . Unless they have improved the standard one so it wont leak again I would say the alloy one is better unless you intend to get rid of the car soonish or cash is very tight.

May be worth having a good look at the interior fan resistor pack and drill some drain holes to try and avoid failure in the future . There have been a spate on SELOC and a couple on here.

Pete changed the front towing bracket with a shiney one and it looked ace , I painted mine and it looks rubbish.

yep - get the rad done as it'll save you cash in the long term.. IIRC you'll need to get the old rad off anyway to get the new fan in

You'll probably find that the driving light brackets, towing eye bracket and other ferrous bits are crying out for some TLC
