Next problem, had the front clam off for the first time on Sunday, dead easy off and on although there must be a knack to the forward Alan bolts in the door hinge area, wheel arch liners is my guess. Not to worry I managed.

Problem is that my bonnet no longer opens.

The cable pull thing-y under the steering wheel is solid and I am reluctant to pull it really hard in case I break it. Have tried pushing the bonnet down and pulling the thing-y at the same time and moving it left and right, no luck although I did get bored quite quickly (cold and dark).

I know it is a known problem, anybody got any bright ideas or should I have a more determined go at the pushing and shoving.:chainsaw

The clam just hasn't gone back on in exactly the same spot. Have someone lean on it while heaving on the cable. Worst case, you'll have to loosen the clam bolts and shoogle it free.

You can adjust the bonnet section independantly with the three bolts on the hinge.

Thought that might be the key but after working on it for 3 or 4 hours outside and having got the thing back in one piece I was cold and p'd off.

I'll give it a go this weekend

Thanks

Had a go this weekend. The problem was that the locking pin had engaged in the mechanism then gone down further and locked against the bracket which the mechanism is mounted on. The mechanism was releasing well enough but the bonnet was staying down because it had engaged against the bracket itself.

Spent an hour or more with a cut down Alan key held in a quarter inch socket driver stuck down the little gap beside the windscreen wiper and eventually managed to undo the two bolts which hold on the locking mechanism. Undoing those ment that I could get a piece of that plastic tape which you get round boxes around the locking pin. Pulled the pin back and “POPâ€
