Trackday preparation

One of my mates has talked me into going dwn to knockhill on Sunday, for a trackday with his car club. As I've never been on a track so I'm slightly bricking it

mainly for the car.
Is there anything that I should check over, remove or replace before I go down? and is there anything I should check when I'm done? The suspension has just been checked over and set up, nothing seriously wrong there.
I'm going down on the old tyres which I expect to be completely shot after...good excuse to replace them

Other than that I think the brakes will be a bit roasted. The car is getting trailered down just incase its not drivable after and will be getting retired for the winter after Sunday. Plenty of time to fix it for the summer!

Good luck........
As for the car, there's a bit of prep work that i do before every track day.
1. Check brake pads have plenty life left.
2. check coolant
3. check oil is filled to MAX on dipstick.
4. Drop tyre pressures a lot (i run 19psi all round on a048's except the front left which i run at 18psi)
5. remove everything from boot
6. remove everything from inside car!
Be sure to warm the car up & cool the car down at the end of every track outing. Also, never use the handbrake in the pits - chock the wheels or leave it in gear....
Enjoy!!
Cheers,
Steve

Steve, impressed with the individual corner settings. 18 PSI is to low for my liking though. I was all over the place at those pressures, I like them harder (oo-er)
Remember to check your pressures every time you come in as they take a while to settle, dont take too much out at the start unless you have a pump.
Check oil and coolant as you go too.
Take it easy and build up pace, once you think you know what you are doing, come in, cos thats when enthusiasm overtakes ability.

For the amp3 day last week, I followed my usual routine.
Arrange something at work for the morning, that will probably make you late, meaning you run about like a dickhead.
Notice your tracking is out on the motorway on the way up to KH.
Pass a few petrol stations on the way, then decide you need fuel when you get to KH, and have to drive to crook of devon to get some.
Leave your fuel cap at the petrol station.
Forget to check tyre pressures at petrol station.
Go out for blast, come in, and borrow ddtbs tyre guage, and marvel at tyres at 31,21,28 and 19 psi all round.
Do some more laps, go home having had fun and glad that your car survived another trackday.

Have a good breakfast before you leave the house .
The last couple of track days I have had a scabby bacon roll from greasy spoons and felt quite bad for the first hour trying not to chunder.

Do you need to have rear towing eyes for a trackday? Can remember reading something about them a while ago, but cant seem to find where.

I will blame it on the roll , nothing to do with being scared

Wow that brought back vivid memory

Sorry dont know your name, no signature, more than welcome to pax laps, but hoping that I can get around this £25 charge for passengers.

Its Kev. I was in the ruby red elise, trying my hardest to keep up with you on the clogie run.
I think the £25 charge for passengers should be picked up by the passengers.
