I'll try and explain as best I can.
If going by side lights, main beam and full beam:
I've got a push down light switch that clicks down two times as if for side lights and main beam but it doesn't matter if I click it down once or twice the side lights are the only ones on. (number 1)
I've got a toggle for full beam (number 2). I flick it up and it lights up the full beam light on the dash and brightens the lights to main beam.
Then there's a flash toggle which is for flashing full beam....nothing happens apart from flashing the main beam light on the dash. (number 3)
Now I'm confusing myself...

Its broken.
Sounds like dipped beam fuse may have gone or maybe a relay sticking. I don't suoppose that there is a standard wiring layout is there?

You need a wiring diagram. However, I would check (a) the dipped beam fuse, (b) that the bulbs are inserted correctly, (c) that the bulbs still work on dipped beam by running a length of wire from the -ve battery terminal to the -ve bulb terminal and another length from the +ve battery terminal to the +ve terminal on the bulb - you should be able to hot wire both dipped and full beam that way.
Assuming you can get both dipped and full beam to work with hot wiring then you probably need to check the switch and possibly some relay wiring - without a wiring diagram that's going to take some time.
Cheers,
Robin

Wiring diagram? It's a caterham!
I think there is only something like two relays and 6 fuses in the whole car.
Have a wiggle in the fuse box (should be in front a pax's knees.
It's more than likely that your rocker switch has gone - the same happens with the hazard warning switch - you go for an MOT and the indicators stop working.
Try a bit of WD40 and work the button on and off for a bit.
(of course this is after you've done as Robin suggest and check that you haven't blow the fuse/bulb)
