Feels good to have a '99.

However my cute front plate, with no postcode etc, was well good enough for the "Safety Partnership" to nab me in June from an overbridge. So all a fuss about nowt. As ever.

Nanny state. Feckers. How about catching the scum that lobbed a brick through our family car, 4-up. No? Too difficult? Ah. Right. Nab the missus for not displaying a current tax disc? Yep. Easy. Even though the "computer" can tell the b*st*rds she bought it 9 days in advance. Only mishtake was to leave it in the glovebox. Sheesh *.

saw it on police smash accident or whatever.
apparently it's for your benifit.

It makes your car easier to find if it get's stolen (didn't know bigger plates could withstand a gallon of petrol and a box of matches)

It's for (and I kid you not) anti-terror reasons. apparently it was a std plate that stopped the terrorists from making their way inside the terminal building at glasgow.

all that will happen is the same as a de-cat pipe, get a cool plate and an MOT plate :D, MOT comes round swop and swop back when you get home. or you could run with no front plate and say it broke off on an illegal speedbump just pick one thats more than 100mm high and close to a bend in the road. There are 2 on elmbank drive kilmarnock they have the added bonus as the council have marked them up for trafic going up the hill when it's a 1 way street going down!

:-)

My original plate is hanging forlornly in the garage, in the hope that it can come out of retirement for a starring role in an MOT one day!

I also heard that you must have a mechanical fixing holding your number plates on ie. screws. Double sided tape or velcro is ilegal, so the police said when they pulled my mate over.

I know from experience that gaffa tape is not allowed...

My thoughts exactly - Snot has 3/4 front plate, and no postcode or markings on either front or rear (courtesy of fancyplates.com).

I'd be surprised of that causes an issue come MOT time next year

I thought that double sided tape was allowed, but not velcro.

Mine are super strong Velcro...... Cut 40% shorter than standard.. All letters and numbers squeezed together with no spaces. Front AND back....... No writing etc etc

MOT'd just 3 weeks ago at Stratstone Lotus with not a single problem at all.... Also police pulled me a couple of days later for giving it some stick and did not say one word about the plates.. (traffic cops as well btw)..
