alignment.

Post by 2F45T4U » Tue Dec 11, 2007 10:55 am

i had opted to get the wheels set up to factory settings of 0.2mm toe out as per the manual, but in flicking through section XA of the service notes theres Yokohama tyres track settings of 0.5mm toe out. has any one tried both settings or give an opinion on what is best?
i have a feeling .5 will waken the car right up and make it feel pretty quirky but im not spending £30 on alignment for it to be crap.

anyone?

I presume you're talking front?

Why aren't you getting the full geo done?

With your quick rack I think you should look more at rear toe than front toe....

I also think that with a quick rack you should look at castor very carefully.

yes front.
i agree totally.

at present the car is barely drivable. if i get it in a position where i can drive it then il run it for a few weeks until i get a feel for it. ive only done about 200miles in an elise. all of which were with a busted rack. so im looking forward to driving it hard before i get a feel for what i think it needs.

who in ABZ is recommended for full geo set-up?

The manual is talking about A048R tyre settings - are you on R tyres or road tyres. If you're on road tyres, you deffo want the 0.2mm toe setting.

If you're on R tyres then you'll need to get the camber set appropriately (i.e. loads of -ve camber at the front) and then the wider front toe might be more appropriate, though I'll be honest and say that I don't have a good feel for the front toe/front camber interaction.

Cheers,
Robin

oh well too late. i got the 0.5mm toe out on it. (with std road wheels. DOH!)
having never driven this car much its hard to say whats good and whats better until i try diddling about with different settings. il take it for a full geo in the spring time when ive given it a shake down over the next few weeks to replace whatever balljoints and stuff is worn or bushes need replaced before getting it done.

even if 0.5 isnt great. this is still the best handling car ive ever driven! the 300zx feels like a tank in comparison
