Very Noisy induction kit and loss of power? (NLC)

Post by Scottynic » Thu Dec 13, 2007 1:27 pm

Sorry to ask this on a loti website but I know it may not just be a lotus problem and someone may have encountered it before.

On my winter bucket, I have a green induction kit which I cant be bothered removing but its been getting louder and louder recently to the extent I will probably get pulled for it, since it has been waking the dead I have noticed that when i used to be able to get just over 60 in second I cant now and it just seems to make more and more noise from say 40+
hence the reason i think its loosing power.

Any one got any ideas as to what might be wrong?

cheers

Have cleaned the filter made a difference for all of 2mins, I think the technical term for it is Fcuked so gonna have to buy another one.

Not really a fixer usually just put it in a garage, but if you give me something to do with downhole oil tools i can fix them!

if you cleaned the filter and it got better for a bit, that implies that whatever you did fixed it.

Cleaned the filter again... Is it a cotton filter? If so wash it out and re-oil it.

take the filter off all together, go out for a bake and if it runs better then its fookt/choked.

I cleaned the filter using K&N cleaning stuff and reoiled it. seemed okay for a wee bit but its back to normal now and its like at 5500rpm its hitting a limiter?

Will buy a pair of tights and stick them over the air intake so no major sh*t goes in.

Was also thinking there maybe an ignition problem but this is not making a noise obviously.

as Richard suggested, if the car has a MAF meter then it may be at fault and also you said it cleared after cleaning the filter, it must be to do with that somehow. without hearing its difficult to know.

the power thing is fixed must have been dirty injectors as put in some redex and seems ok now.

Will just have to live with the noise tho.
