PM Stu Pollock, He's sorting me out a set of SBS pads for the rear (I already have new 1144's for the front), apparently almost as good as Pagids, but at Mintex money.

Hmmm..can't find the link :scratch

Was around £200 for a full set IIRC, about 20% cheaper? Think 10 orders were required.

Generally, 42's for road & some track use, 14's for mostly track- (they need more heat than you'll get on the road)

/awaits correction/

:withstupid

14's eat discs if the pads are not up to temperature, so much so i need to replace discs and pads at the same time, every time  . Awesome on track though when matched to good fluid....

I am opting forrRS42 , £220.96 delivered from elise parts. Is group buy worth the hassle?

What is a good indication that your disk needs replaced? wearing thin? something I dont know

Depends on the discs i guess, but technically you're supposed to measure them with a micrometer thing. I run them until there's no grooves left on the disc surface then replace them.... They're eliseparts discs though and you wont be able to do the same with std drilled jobbies....

How many miles you got on the car now? I'll get around 10 to 15k from a set of discs, but thats running rs14 pads. You might get longer with normal pads though.

For road and occasional track use 1144 are best VFM.

For frequent track day use RS42 are more than good enough.

RS14 are overkill for anything less than racing and the associated budget.

SBS were OK, but I found them a little bit wooden compared to RS42 and I gather they are now not that much cheaper, so not sure SBS is worthwhile.

Cheers,
Robin

Stick me down for a set of RS42 fronts if someone arranges a group buy.

Looks like RS42's for me then, unless Stu says otherwise!

Pagid RS42s made a dramatic difference on my Elise. Will definitely replace the Exige pads with them but will probably wait til I wear them down. Could be interested in a group buy in January though.
