Falkland Performance Centre

Post by renmure » Wed Feb 15, 2006 8:53 pm

Just thought I would make a quick post saying what great service I got from Falkland Performance Centre re getting my Exige serviced.

I gave them a ring before going to collect the car to find out what sort of Service they would recommend bearing in mind the car was 2001 with only 3k miles and had hardly been driven for the last two years. They were helpfull and knowledgable and their advice tied in with what MMC recommended. They then bent over backwards to accomodate me bringing the car directly to them for servicing, gave a courtesy car without questions, gave a breakdown of what they would do and what it would all cost and kept in touch all the way through the process in relation to anything else that poped up during the service.

After the service the car was rolling road tested, cleaned, and sitting looking pretty when I came to collect it. I got a good explaination of what was done to the car. The price was as agreed before hand, the cost of any extra bits were as discussed during the service and and I came away feeling happy about the whole experience. The actual cost of the c-service itself was about half that of MMC.

They hope to be Official Lotus Agents by the end of the month and anyhow, they have certainly got me as a customer from now on.

Jim, my mate's brother-in-law works there so I'll see if I can pass on the feedback. I plan on going there for my A service in April so it's good to hear.

Both Kev and Allan are top blokes - they installed a Racelogic unit into my M and I had planned to talk to them about the Esprit - fact they're going Lotus may just clinch it. Kev of course last season's SMRC saloon winner so they know how to put a race car together..

So we getting an SE discount...

+ we could do a rolling road day there... :P

The impression I got was that they would certainly be interested in a Rolling Road day for clubs etc. I sort of touched on it briefly with Alan and he was positive. I also got the impression that they were keen to develop links so perhaps an SE discount would be on offer. :D

I have always had great service from them, I have had a few things done by them and they have always been ready to talk through what they find/did/might need to do. No pressure to buy more parts, always keen to check first that you want bits and always keep you in the picture as to what is going on.

Always got quite a selection of wacky racers out the front too. Today was a Elise (Mine), Exige (Renmure), a Caterham, their own Sierra thing, 2 Scoobys and a Pimped up Pug.

OT - Nearly bough Kev's RS500 (won SMRC saloon class 2-3 times inc. 2004) but fact it's not even trying to be road legal means it wouldn't get on all track days.. of course then the Lotus came into view.. and the chassis on that could be very quick with the right power. Aim is to track initially like Paul and then look at Roadsports series racing (750MC, AM etc).

Will look to have Kev prepare the engine and get the car running to its potential, whcih means proper boost and fuel mgt and larger roller bearing conversion.. target is 400bhp which is doable (currently 320 on 1 bar and with the T3-T4 .63 hybird sport 300 turbo, motorsport chip, Lotus Carton 720cc injectors etc etc. Spec already pretty high but tech is older and roller bearing tubbies make a massive difference as you can go a larger trim for startes. If not then I'll get them to throw in a RS500 lump instead...

I've still to tell them the good news...  If we can do a RR day then that would be a good way to start - basically do a power run - record settings then leave with them to refine, boost and improve.. 8)

Just had my car serviced and MOT'd at Falkland, this now being the fourth time they've serviced the car for me,very pleased with what they did, the mechanic was spot on, very thorough and missed nothing, very enthusiastic and defiantly knows his stuff. Had a good chat with both Kevin and Allen and hopefully it wont be to long now before they become an official Lotus service centre :D
Would defiantly recommend them to anyone looking for an alternative to MMC :D :D :D
