After a thumping sound from the rear exiting the sleeping policeman

i decided to inspect my rear shockers. Yeh the are goosed

. So i am not really sure what to do next? I have seen there is a second hand set on ebay athe moment, or should i really buy a new set. The other thing is they are not cheap, and i am trying to save money for holiday abroad this year. Have any of you any advise on this, and the best place to buy them on a budget? Or even if any of you guys can help out with good second hand set.

Duf news Rich. 43 Sqn is moving over to merg with 56 Sqn, and 56 Sqn are getting disbanded. So your old Sqn will be no more

They say its due to less training of the Pilots on the F3. They are preparing the old 43 Sqn site for the Typhoon arrival ???? Well so they say,

I have at least 3 S1 shockers in my garage I know that the 4th one was shot but can't remember if it was a front or a rear. Feel free to pop round if you think that they might get you back on the road meantime. I'll pm you my details.

Stew,
You really, really, really only need a set of S2 Bilsteins packaged as the now infamous S2-for-S1 kit either from Lotus or Steve Butts. Subtle diffs between them but not enough to really care, pick the one with keenest price I reckon! Search this board for the details if needed. I didn't think much change out of £500 but others seem to have done better.
I did this last Sept, and although I've still some minor adjustments to complete, it's the best thing I did to the car since...well...since I bought it
Whatever you do, don't put another set of std S1 Konis back on for longer than an "interim measure".

Cheers for that Campbell. Lucky for me Stewart who just happens to live around the corner from me just happend to have a spare shocker in his garage. So the car is sorted for this moment in time. However i do know that the old ones wont last forever, and when they need replacing i will take your advise. I do believe the S2 shockers are far better.
Another bonus yesterday is Stewart offered me a drive in a Caterham around Donnington, which i gladly accepted. It was a great experiance, even though i kept crashing, or stalling the car.

Yes it was on his computer

But hey its very real using the steering wheel, and pedals. Its Grrrreeeeaaaat
Cheers Stewart Your a Star

No problem, you're welcome. Just remind me not to let you drive my car round Donny in March

So after a few conversations with some people on here.

I will hopefully have a set of the new Nitron Reds fitted for Donny.

Would be very interesting to see how they compare with the Nitrons blue mate - great effort.

Reds are the new 'budget' non-adjustables, I'm assuming Andy's referring to the standard 1-way adjustable Nitrons (which have blue bits)

Dan called today with some good news , my new Nitron Reds have been delivered

I'm popping down the S160 on Thursday to have them fitted along with a service just in time for Donny

I might call him tomorrow and get him to "accidentally" fit them to the grey S1 Exige thats in his workshop
