No it really works, I have 10 sellotaped to my engine and now have 400bhp.

I love the photo... "fitted to perfection..." you take the plug off and bypass the circuit using the legs of the resistor!

I received one of them last xmas off of a relative - As jon says, its a brown envelope with a A4 instruction sheet and a resistor with a cheap sticker glued to it!

13% more torque,on the rollers power is up, 190.1bhp from 182.9bhp all for £6!

I read the guys feedback.

He has had 84 negative feedbacks in the last 12 months.

I asked about these on another forum for a different car, although in more of a how do they actually work/what do they do manner, and everyone replied with avoid etc (I was never gonna buy one!!)

So....

What exactly DO they do?

Corranga, most do FA.... but I 'believe' they are meant to trick your ECU in to adjusting the mix since the resisitor buggers up the readings from one of the sensors maing the ECU think it's running to lean or something.

But TBH, that explanation could be just as bollox as the product...

The ECU uses incoming air temp to work out air density; the more dense the air the more fuel it can quirt in. What this resistor does is to tell the ECU that the air is very very cold so it can hoof in more fuel. Which is fine, except that as you hopefully realise that fuel is metered to the MAP which relies on the incoming sensor data being accurate.

If you lie to the ECU you *Might* get more performance as ideal power is produced at somethign like 13:1 Air to fuel and your ECU wants 14.7:1 to keep the CAT alive.

In short it will make the enigne run rich all the time, might get a bit more power but will bugger up the CAT over time and screw up your fuel economy and emissions.

How do I know all this? Well I have fitted Electronic Fuel Injection to my Porker and that was one of the sensors that didn't work properly, also Robin told me...
