Scottish Elises

Hey guys,

After going for a run last night for the first time in ages, I forgot that the battery was fecked and the alarm went off at 2am this morning. Fortunatly I have the o'ride key so it was not too painful.

Tried searching, got nothing useful, I need a batt, any ideas?
The charger won't touch it and claims it is alrady charged, so I'm pretty sure its permanently goosed, I do have some magical mystery powder at my parents that works wonders on old batteries... I'll try that on the old one but in the mean time I still need a new one.

Got a Varta number but I dunno where to get one from, Halfrauds is the last resourt (and apparently it doesn't fit very well) any other places I should be looking? (In the front services compartment - I know that already ta! )

Ali recently sourced a new one for me. It was a BOSCH. Looks ace (for a battery). Can't quite remember the price but i think he said it was £40ish.

Last one I bought was a Varta Blue B18 543-023-039 43AH 390A, £27 from Dingbros.

I also need a new one for N1, Halfords wanted £66, so back to Dingbros.

Might have found a promising local shop: Longton Battery Services with a big Varta sign outside, I'll pay them a visit

I bought a Lucas Premium Battery, 4yr warranty direct from Lucas, cost £40 inc vat

I got a unipart one from Partco, 3 year warranty and only £33 all in. Even had a decent handle.

Costco sell Bosch batteries for much cheapness. Worth a look if you have one nearby.

I've never priced an Elise battery from Costco before but I have found in the past that they couldn't be beaten on price.

is their another way to get the battery out ? it looks as if I will have to remove the rad to get mine out it's to big for the hole*

On an S1 it should slot in and pull out.

Its a very tight fit which is why a handle is really essential.

yeah - its a real tight fit and PITA job to pull it out the first time, but it does come out with a little persuasion. Going back in was alot easier.

it is a bit snug isn't it!

Got a new one, fitted last night, £55 + 3 year warranty. Also Liz is now insured for commuting so no excuses for not driving it!
