...is this likely to cost?
Unfortunate encounter with a big, fast (but not fast enough

) badger.
Not very scientific I know, but I'm wondering if it's worth going down the insurance route or sorting myself (well not personally)...anyone had similar repairs experience and could hazard a ballpark figure?
(indicator seems fine...just clam and o/s grille damage I think...haven't had a good look in daylight though...s'cuse the crappy pics...too busy to get it priced properly at the moment

Bad luck Bertie

I'd gaffa it up until you could get to Steve Walkers.... If its repairable, id guess at about a grand....

Arriving broadside, in a cloud of smoke......

It looks repairable but if not a new clam is mega bucks

Hmmm.... if it's getting upwards of a grand or a new clam then it's an insurance job -£1K is about what I reckon I'd lose on my (unprotected) NCB....
(That'd be new clam#3- almost one a year then...is that excessive?
Saves washing the damn things right enough

Bad luck.
About £1800 for a repair and a metallic paint blend for a similar injury on my old S1. Paid for it myself to save my premium.

If you look online you may find a used clam (from rear ended car).....buy it, paint it and fit it....could be within £1k????
And then repair old one and keep as spare......

With these things I'd be tempted to have a look at it in the flesh/glass first.

if you can remove the clam then there are a few paint shops that would sort it for way less.
Might be worth calling Ali and seeing if his mate can do anything with it, as its looks repairable. Where the cracks are though could be an issue, so depends if you want it concours or not as to whether you claim.

I had chunks missing from my front clam after a smash. Thought it was totaled but some local guys repaired it and you would never have known. £100 to get it done. Painting the clam is where it costs after a repair, not priced that yet !!!!.

looks like you got off luckily... Badgers are a total arse. A friend of mine wrote off a Ford Ka into a badger. Was a big old barsteward of a thing. ok the car wasn't worth much, but badgers are pretty hard things to hit..
Anyway, sorry to hear about the damage, hope you get it sorted...

Yeah, I was lucky- could've been a lot worse- 'twas an big beastie- almost managed to avoid, but was still doing about 50 when I clipped it..(you can see the tufts of hair wedged in the wheel rim in the first photo
