No Air Con ? help.

Post by Jamie84 » Mon Mar 31, 2008 4:42 pm

Was heating up a little in the cabin today so i decided to try the air con .

The light comes on , but absolutly no change in air temperature .

warm air works no bother but cold appears to have packed in.

I am hoping this is a common problem which is easily sorted ? I have heard talk about heater matrix being a common fault but does Aircon come under this ?

great timing with "summer" comming in and all.

any help is appreciated thanks guys

Have you been running it occasionally (i.e. once every couple of weeks) through winter? I know if you dont it can lead to needing regassing. If the fans still work and it blows air I dont think it will mean the heater resistor, as that stops the fans blowing.

Yeah, could just need regassing but aircon pipes can fracture. Quite a common fault IIRC (my Exige did it).

Used it a few times but not every 2-3 weeks.

can it be regassed at your local garage (think I seen kwickfit  advertising it ) or is it dealer/ali ?

thanks.

I'm sure mine was very quick but had to wait for the new part then wait again to regass.

Will your car not be under warranty still? If so take it to Murrays!!

If still under warranty return it to Murrays.

Otherwise Kwick-fit et-al can re-gas it, well it will need pressure testing 1st to find the leak and then any parts changed.

If you don't occasionally use it (as JJ said every week, even just for a short time) the seals dry out and the gas leaks out.

They might need access to both the front end and the engine.

I doubt kwick-fit do a lot of air-con, and they don't do many Elise's so I'd doubt they'd have had an Elise with air-con in to look at.

But if you stay with them and watch them and make sure they don't try to jack it up etc then who knows........they might fix it.
