Hand brake light.

Post by transglobal » Fri Apr 04, 2008 8:30 pm

Ran the car yesterday and today. 05 111R with 5k on her. Washed her tonight and then went for a run but the hand brake light stayed on. It was dim compared to when the hand brake is on but stayed on none the less. Is it pads? Water in the system somewhere? Was braking fine with no fading etc.

Thanks.

Did the light go out when you pressed the brake pedal?

No, it stayed on all the time. When I stopped and applied the hand brake it got brighter but when I put the hand brake off it stayed on but a little less bright. The only thing I did before this was wash the car. What do you reckon?

I''ll check it in the morning again but thought it strange.

Try pushing the lever down - seriously!
The switch for the light is below the lever - if you put a finger in the hole where the lever goes up and down - you'll be able to feel it!

(I'm sure I've left that open for the smut kings to edit appropriately! )

I concur the sticky / duff switch theory - had that problem on other cars before

Found the hole, found the switch, had a fiddle and pushed down on the lever but to no avail. I reckon its the sticky switch / faulty switch issue. Nothing to worry about then but I was just making sure that I wasn't missing anything more serious.

Thanks for your help.
