Clippy hooky thing...

Putting this under technical would seem a bit of an insult to the word but it seems to be the right place.

On the bonnet vents there are two "anchor" points, one is the little plastic rod that sticks into the centre of the clam and the other is the "little metal clip bit". My "little metal clip bit" (technical term) has fallen off. This results in a "bouncy vent" (another techical term) which is now getting on my nerves. How can I get a new "little metal clip bit" or does anyone have an alternative?

Also whats the stuff that its stuck on with? Looks like some sort of resin, and what could I use to stick my replacement on with that wont end up in it falling off again?

Cheers,
Graeme

Its a flat nut. Murray's would probably have them in stock :) Failing that, take the other one off if its loose and go to your local hardware shop :thumbsup

'S'funny I just pulled mine off recently because they were obviously in the wrong position and b*ggering the panel gaps.
Haven't noticed the flappy thing yet :? -seem fine so far (But then I do drive like my gran  ).

Now it's just the rest of the car that rattles.

Must have a look in the garage- if I didn't chuck them you're welcome to them. Dunno what that compound they're bedded in is, but a dod of superglue should do the trick...

Its not that style of clip. Since I really couldnt be bothered going out and unscrewing the panel to take a photo I have decided to utilise my MS Paint skills. I realise you will all be in awe of these skills...

The clips looks like this:

The hook on my car (MY2002) is plastic and moulded as part of the vent.

Could it be that a previous owner has broken the clip and devised a replacement?

Probably not -mine ('04) were the same as Whaleys.

Had a look today- but couldn't find them.

Sure MMC will get you one for £100 if you're stuck

Mine snapped - just order them from MMC - they were only about £2. Then just sikaflex them on. :thumbsup
