Nitrons Install.
Nitrons Install.
Hey Guys,
For anyone who has done this..
I'm looking at installing a set of single adjustable Nitron to my car. I understand that the standard top front bracket which holds the ABS unit on the S2 will not accept the Nitron shock body.
Is a replacement bracket supplied with the shocks when purchased or can you buy the correct bracket..I'm probably going to buy the shocks s/hand.
Thanks,
Frank

Nitron market single adjustables specifically for Exige S so I would hope the ABS bracketry is catered for. I too am considering a set, so interested to hear what they say, also how you find them once fitted.

Re: Nitrons Install.
Just talked to Nitrons..the shock mounting bracket which also holds the ABS unit needs to be replaced. It is supplied by Nitrons at around £15.
BTW the difference between the S2 and S kit is simply that the rear spring rate is increased to 575lb from 550lb to accomodate the extra weight of the sc kit.
However I'm hearing good things about running SA Nitrons on the exige with f/r 525/650lb springs which is 100lb up on standard S2 springs for the Nitrons. Not sure whether this may be a bit stiff for the road though.

Re: Nitrons Install.
Do they revalve the rebound on the dampers to fit those heavier springs, or are you talking about just swapping them over? If you don't adjust the rebound the car might be a bit edgy in chicanes, etc. Then again, I don't know what valve or valves the SA nitrons adjust when you turn the dial - is it bump, rebound or both!

Re: Nitrons Install.
it adjusts both, but has a bigger affect on rebound. (thats what 2 seperate people have told me anyway, i dont know this for sure)
Re: Nitrons Install.
There are an almost new set of Nitrons on eBay at the moment, S2 Exige, 425/550 springs, sitting at £600.

Re: Nitrons Install.
No revalve required for the stiffer springs, as noted comp/rebound both adjust together on the SA's...
.. bit concerned about the ebay ones, been relisted twice now.

Just a reminder about the Nitrons, two hours to go.

Hey Tut,
Those went for £671.00 which IMHO was bit too much for s/hand shocks..was half expecting second chance offer today!

Take care,
Given that a £200 overhaul returns you a virtually new set for £500 under the price of a brand new set - I don't think it's too bad.

Re: Nitrons Install.
Resurrected this thread since I dipped into the wallet (a long way) and purchased these

Frank, not sure if your still looking at this, but the Nitrons do come with a modified top bracket because the Nitron dampers significantly bigger OD than the Bilsteins, also bigger OD springs. The right hand bracket had extra lugs for the ABS unit.
Have bolted them on straight out of the box as set up by Nitron, pretty much set at standard ride height. Short run this evening to check, most noticable thing first off is that ride is actually better than standard despite significantly stiffer spring rate. Must be down to reduced friction in the damper.
Hopefully see what they do on track next Saturday.

George
Why are you changing the shocks? Isn't the PP set up any good?

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

Hey GDR,
NICE! What spring rates did you get?
Heard a lot say that the normal ride is better (bonus). Post up after KH.
I'm still on the Bilstiens but thinking about going to Nitrons Open Day, week Sunday, as I'm in the area, just about.
Take care,
Frank
