HGF 2

This is probably karma for selling Shug my old head that was used for air rifle traget practice . . .
I have had another HGF (or HF potentially) I won't know which until the head is removed which will happen sometime this week. It's been about 27k miles since the gasket was last changed.
I understand that current HGF advice includes using the latest Rover gasket and not any Mike Satur/other competition spec ones and checking/setting the liner heights so . . .
Where do you get the gaskets from?
Does somebody sell them online or are they only available from a Rover dealer?
How do you tell the latest design one from and old one?
What are the tolerances for liner height?
Thanks,
Simon

BWAHAHA! No, just kidding mate...
If it's head failure, mine will be coming off very soon and it's got lots of nice goodies in it (can sell for good price

) And before anybody pipes up, it's the bottom end of the engine that's gone on mine! Of course, you can get it all checked out before handing me greenbacks
Anyway - go to DVA for the gasket, he'll sell you the right one. Also, Stephen on here could get it, or even Stu. There's a sooper dooper new one, with shims, but the concensus is that it's still gonna fail if the liners are out of spec.
Liner standproud is between 5 & 7 thou. You'll need to machine the block if they ain't right.

Same thing that happens to all 180hp k's in the end (with standard bottom ends) Rings & liners. Has an Ollie Reed/Tut appetite for oil now.
Just picked up a fresh ported VVC engine from darn sarf at the weekend that I'll be transplanting - but more on that soon....

Simon,
I've found this place that sells the Head Gasket as part of a kit, including the inlet & exhaust gaskets too

Thanks for the offer, I'll bear it in mind. I'm in no rush yet, I'll wait and see whether it's HGF or HF first.

And there is a standard head at mine that is also in known working condition if you reach that point where you need to put a head on it quick.
Cheers
