im trying to have a play with my GTech Pro RR meter. im not convinced its much of a piece of kit but if someone can tell me what the accurate weight is of an S1 with about 50% fuel and no driver?
the book figures seem to vary quite a lot from what ive read on a few websites. why is that? surely its not that hard for the factory to weigh the car BEFORE they wrote the book?
while im at it, has any one else played with one of these performance meters and how good is it?
cheers,
Fraser

You will be pretty close if you take 750kg for the car and 17kg for the fuel.

Depends what day of the week it was
Seriously though, hard to keep track of that info as there were many many detail changes that usually added a little weight all through the product life. Change from alloy to steel rear uprights, for example.

mine was :
LF 178,5 .... RF 178kg
LR 291........RR 258kg
Total : 905,5 gk
that was with 20l in tank, 85 kg in driver seat and tools.
<AUDI power sort of compensates the extra AUDI weight .... :lol >

Hoots mon! Your cross weights are a bit out Bob!
Maybe it's 'cos your drivers seat is on the left...
Was it set to balance the fronts?

Tut,
I put some spare parts and tools in the seat to equal "my" weight ( and up my ego

)
I cannot sit in it because I 'need' my body to do the work
Ali,
the Audi has a f*cking heavy gearbox (6 speed) on the left side, add that to the LHS driver position and that's it

the Elise was designed as RHD, even things like battery is replaced on LHD.
I have equalled out the front weights to prevent locking 1 front wheel when breaking and also found that on the short bendy Sprint course it is fine. You never know if the sprint goes right or left round, so have to make a compromise at home.
the 5 speed AUDI gearbox seems to be 20 kg lighter, but it is (being told) not as strong as the 6 speed box. I don't really need 6 speeds with this engine, but with 270 LbFt I don't want to risk a 5 speed box to break .
